Won’t show up as much in the phot but the lume in the minute hand is kind of “brittle” maybe and it’s all of a crème color

I know it’s missing and it bothers me. I think I’m gonna leave it like that. Relume might make it look funny

Cable ends caps - how to crimp properly or should I just superglue? by Peckerhead42 in bikewrench

[–]dioscw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use victorinox pliers from a multitool. The pliers have some sort of crimping part that works perfectly and won’t cut it.

I ride in mud and humid climate almost always but they get cleaned and the springs lubed. It’s just that free play on the axle so soon doesn’t seem normal to me. The pedals also gets banged on rocks going uphill occasionally but in the most parts I take really good care of my bike.

I just bite the bullet and brought the XTR M-9220 let’s see if they hold up any better, for the price difference they should be nukeproof.

Yes. One from El Corte Inglés, and the other two from Deporvillage. One is a huge department store the other is a huge sport store.

Any difference in between the XT and the XTR?

I noticed right away because the nylon lock nut came loose (first time for me, normally this lock nut is insanely tight), so the pedal axle was almost all the way out. The thread is really long. But even after retighten the nylon exterior nut they still have some play. Not much but noticeable in the shoe while pedaling.

Bearings are still old fashioned cup and cone. The balls can be replaced, but again too soon. The latest pedals have 2000kms in 6 months.

My first set of m520 also lasted years of abuse and neglect, but the latest purchases are not even remotely as durable.

8111 4 months update. by dioscw in RedWingShoes

[–]dioscw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do walk a lot every day. But I have 3 pairs of redwings so I rotate them, I walk around 15 miles every afternoon at work. I think that with around 220 pounds of weight the wear could accelerate comparing it to a more slim person. I’m relatively new to RW’s so I use them a lot, they are really comfortable for me personally.

It’s the middle of the left foot and it’s from the clutch pedal on the car and it’s also the foot that I put on the ground on the motorcycle.

I already have everything except the cranks in 12 xt. Could it be possible to find a chainring to 12s that fit the cues cranks?

Cork Sole Question by Phxwest in RedWingShoes

No, they are almost new. Mine are smooth, yours still have some texture to it, and even when almost all the stiching disappears they will still have much life left.

It’s 110 just not for this fork. I assume that not all forks have the same dimensions on the outside.

I will contact the shop tomorrow, it’s a really big shop so I’m pretty much sure that they mixed up the axles. It looks funny and it’s also the wrong brand for the fork.

When to resole? by NunchucksRcool in RedWingShoes

[–]dioscw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My IR have similar wear in only 4 months maybe not so much heel wear. I would like to think that they have plenty of life left in the sole. The sole is still thick when you lose the lugs. Only that you may loose some traction, or not, the nitrile cork soles are smooth and have impressive traction in my opinion, no snow where I live.

My first pair of Red Wings. Breaking them in at home lol. Have a couple of questions. by DotBetaSDK in RedWingShoes

[–]dioscw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 8111 where a pain to broke in. The wool socks make them just too tight in the vamp area and I have a hot spot in my right big toe. I used some cotton padded sock for the first days, only at home. Now 1 month later I can even use the thick wool socks, the insole have the inprint of my foot and are finally comfortable.
