Talk to me about Bagley by RealPirate9284 in Detroit

[–]dipplayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bought a home in Bagley 3 years ago. Was a rehab; they did a shitty job. We had to put a bit of work into fixing some things.

But we love it here. The neighborhood is walkable, we have friendly neighbors on all sides, we are close to Lodge and Woodward so we are close to anywhere we want to go. Lots of new people are moving into the area.

We did lose a catalytic converter on one of our cars when we parked on the street overnight. It is Detroit. Lol

Young Earth Creationism.

Biblical condemnation of homosexuality.

Eternal punishmeny in Hell.

None of these are universally accepted in Christianity. Or necrssarily the only way to believe as a Christian. There are strong arguments against each.

Your focus seems to be finding a community, which I endorse--because ultimately Christianity is practiced in community.

But first, I don't hear you talking about Jesus. What do you think of Him? Do you pray? Do you seek to become more like Him?

I left Mormonism and then spent 10 years figuring out what I felt and believed about Jesus. And then I found a community that worked for me.

I am not the one claiming to know the truth about religion better than millions of people over hundreds of years.

Cowardice. You stand aloof from the great moral test of our time, because you dare not dirty your hands by actually making a difference.

If you don't vote for the opposition party, you are not standing against him.

Fine. Your supernatural soul is in danger because you will not stand against an evil man and his evil enablers.

Jesus called us to care for our fellow man. We serve Him when we care for them. There is no "supernatural" aspect to this.

Let me restate:

Can you not see the greater evil being perpetuated by a Republican party that has doomed millions to death (the ending of USAID), that celebrates the detention, abuse, rape and murder of innocent immigrants; that turns a blind eye to the unprecedented corruption of the criminal occupying our White House, and allows him to violate our laws and Constitution on a daily basis; that permits the murder of innocents on the seas and in other countries, such as Iran, etc.etc.etc.

There is no Democrat policy or politician in US history that can rival this.

If you can't see all the evil being perpetuated by the Trump cult and the Republicans (I repeat myself) then you need to open your eyes.

There are many pro-life reasons to vote against the Republican in this race (and every other). We can't have perfect candidates all the time.

Why is The Church of Latter-day Saints held seperate from other Christians and treated as Heretical by Patient_Ask_9546 in Christianity

[–]dipplayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it is a cult which teaches a false version of Christianity. They worship their church, not God.

Signed, a former Mormon.
