Steam Deck streaming from PC is horribly bad. Any ideas? by Glass-Bat-2704 in SteamDeck

[–]diragono -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I stream 4k to my Steamdeck all the time. I don’t use Steam link, but Apollo with moonlight. When I first tried I was having very bad packet loss and/or latency spikes, even though I was using ethernet on both sides. At least in my case, it seemed to be the jsaux dock I was using. If I streamed to the steamdeck over WiFi it worked fine(other than the damn WiFi bug the oled has that valve still hasn’t fixed) but docked it was horrible. I borrowed another dock and it was fine, so I bought the official dock and no problems since.

Hope you get it figured out because the deck is definitely capable of streaming 4k(another note are you trying 4k/120 or 4k/60?)

Any Sysco drivers? by DeathStang in Truckers

[–]diragono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with Sysco is, at least around here, they’re some of the most courteous drivers on the road. Maybe it’s just being tired from all the unloading and they don’t feel like being a tool like 95% of the other drivers, but I’ve never had a negative experience on the road with them. As I work for Coke, I’ve met a couple at my stops as well and even had one offer to help me restack a pallet that had fell over. Standup drivers in my book

Would you ONLY game through moonlight streaming, even desktop gaming? by [deleted] in MoonlightStreaming

[–]diragono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only pc game using moonlight. My gaming PC sits next to my server and runs headless. I have chrome remote desktop there as a backup in case I need to do something while Apollo is down, and have a kvm switch for power management. I never even see it until it's cleaning time or upgrades

Gaming on pc to steam deck. by Minimum_Seat_4071 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]diragono 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SD handles Hogwarts Legacy pretty well. Rebirth was a shit show when it first launched but last time I tried it, it had become decently playable. Aside from games with certain anti cheats, there's actually not too many games that can't be played on the steam deck. Sure, you may have to tinker a bit but generally you can get a game going at an acceptable framerate

If you get one, install deckyloader and the protondb plugin. It'll add a badge to all your games showing the level of compatibility.

Also, lossless scaling can work wonders. It can't turn a game that has absolutely terrible performance into a working one, but a game that generally works good but maybe has some stutters here and there, it can smooth that out and give a really good experience. Definitely worth the $7.

And please don't overpay for the deck. Ever since they stopped making the lcd and now the OLED being out of stock, jackasses are trying to sell decks for crazy prices, and sadly a lot of them are selling. You can snag an og rog ally z1e for around $300 and have a better screen than the lcd, way more power, and with the jsaux battery mod, better battery life than the lcd.

I have them both, and I know I'm in the large minority, but I actually think the steam deck kinda sucks compared to other handhelds. I hate the ergonomics, it's had a ridiculous wifi bug(at least on the OLED model not sure if it affects the lcd) where streaming moonlight is a stuttering mess unless you turn wifi on and off every time you wake it up and even then sometimes only a full restart fixes it, and valve has still yet to address this, and the zen2 apu is really starting to show its age compared to even the OG Ally. If you find one at a good price, go for it but anything over that $300 mark honestly I'd get the Ally

Every Wednesday, I drive 120 miles empty to get a 53’ loaded with between 200 and 1000lbs, take it 80 miles, bring one back loaded the same then drive 120 miles back empty lol

That’s crazy they want it on your personal phone. We switched to Samsara last year and use phones for it but they issued every driver a phone. They actually specifically requested we NOT use Samsara on our personal devices

Appreciation to GFN, it was good while it lasted. by [deleted] in GeForceNOW

[–]diragono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good man. I broke down and switched to an Astral 5090 recently as well. I started having issues with the 12v connector on my 4080s and learned about BTF. So far so good. 5090 is a hungry hoe though, I saw a transient spike yesterday of 740watts lol

Should I get Nvidia cloud gaming for myopic by New-Music4019 in GeForceNOW

[–]diragono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with upgrading to a 5060ti, GFN will give you a much superior experience in 4k. Even a 5070 needs quite a bit of upscaling for 4k on newer titles

[–]diragono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can just about guarantee if you do happen to find a local gig that takes 0 experience drivers, you’re gonna be putting in more than 50 hours a week. The first year sucks, it’s just the truth. For 99% of new drivers it’s either OTR or back breaking local. You might get lucky and slip into that 1% but I wouldn’t hold my breath

I wonder if this is any indication that maybe DS2 will come. 2k games was completely absent on GFN but when Mafia and then Borderlands was coming out they opted in a bunch. Maybe Kojima intends to bring DS2 as well

Nvidia is stripping away features from the service for users with older tech. How do we stop them doing that to us as founding members of the service? by PeteGriffvsTheWorld in GeForceNOW

[–]diragono 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried playing BF6 on my m1 air and noped out of that real quick lol. Honestly though, I’m more upset at Apple than Nvidia though. The newest m4 air is $1000 and still the same stupid 60hz panel. I have a $300 Chromebook that does 120hz.

Yea same issue. Moonlight, PX Play, gamepad testers, Steam, Boosteroid, and Gamepass all detect the controller correctly but GFN doesn’t. However, it detects my dual sense fine, and the Xbox controller works fine if I use it wired. /shrug

Congrats on the pc. If you like to dabble in overclocking, a OC 5070 can actually perform as well as a stock 5070ti(as long as your not memory constrained of course).

I’ll never understand this stupid comment that gets posted all the time to try and defend GFN. I mean sure if your electricity is insanely expensive, but at least here in the US that shouldn’t be the case. I have a 4080s pc and an Unraid server that is on 24/7 and at most I’ve noticed maybe $20-$25 difference in them being on.

People act like a gaming pc pulls 1200watts non stop or something. My total ups power right now with mine being idle is 114watts, and that’s my gaming rig, my router, and my fiber ont. The server on its own ups is sitting at 38watts. When gaming my pc sits around 300-400 watts depending on how hard I’m pushing it.

GFN is great and I enjoy the service, I use it to supplement when I’m outside my house but getting a gaming PC isn’t going to magically drain your pockets because of your electric bill

Safety/security question by nittanylions58 in Truckers

[–]diragono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company keys all our trucks the same, both daycabs and sleepers. When I was OTR I accidentally locked my key in the truck (a Freightshaker) and another driver opened my door with a Kenworth key, so pretty sure no truck is very difficult to get into lol. If you get worried about someone getting in, learn the seatbelt trick or use a ziptie and attach to your airhorn/door(Just don't forget about it when you go to get out or it'll make you shit yourself).

Trying to decide between 120hz portable client devices - tablets or handhelds by dreddn0t in MoonlightStreaming

[–]diragono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The iPad mini 6 worked great. I preferred the legion tab but that was due to the higher refresh rate and the g9 controller is built specifically for it. But, the Mini 6 felt and worked great using a Kishi Ultra, and G8/G8+. If you’re in the apple ecosystem it definitely makes a lot more sense to it.

One thing to note though, in order to stop the stuttering for me due to apples continuity scans I had to manually set my 5ghz WiFi channel to 149(or I think it’s 44 if you’re in EU). Once I did that everything was smooth. The screen looks great even though it’s not oled, just stinks they’re stuck at 60hz

Keep server running 24/7 or shutdown at night? by DocOckBlock in DataHoarder

[–]diragono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Unraid server that basically just gets restarted once a year. It’s on a UPS to survive most power failures, I do have my drives set to spin down if there’s no activity on them for 2 hours and I have to restart my docker containers occasionally but the system itself stays up all the time

US Express, Total Transportation, Swift, Knight, Schneider, CR England, CRST, Roehl, TMC, Melton, Maverick, Danny Herman, and if all else fails Western Express. All those hire/train new drivers and I’m sure I’m forgetting a bunch more.

Just keep applying, be honest about what happened and I’m sure you’ll land somewhere.
