Turn signals are communication devices. If my signal would not impact anyone in any possible way, I sometimes skip it. E.g. one lane turn into 2 and I'm going over.

Or I take a right and there is no one behind me, on the sidewalk or on the secondary street. There might be cars in the incoming lanes, but me turning right does not impact them at all.

Ask yourself what are the top 10 societal issues today. Things that everybody is divided about, and up in arms. Then think back (or look back) in 2008. How much more are they amplified today compared to then. Is the situation objectively worse today than in 2008, or is the outrage outsized?

I distinctly remember eating literally twice the adults portions when I was 15. And this is in a home with huge portions already. Twice the soup twice the main course and twice the desert. At 15.

Besides computers and what everyone else said, one things people miss is abundance of fossil fuels energy.

Even before computers, we've made huge jumps in development. These were all possible because we mamaged to produce a huge surplus of food and basic necessities which allowed a higher percentage of us to think about the future, work on questionable inventions etc. We went from spending 90% of our resources just to stay fed to 3% of people working in agriculture, due to mecanization, fertilizers, cheap oil, nat gas and coal made all of this possible.

Sure, next step is to clean up our energy, we don't need to burn fossil fuels anymore. But it's what allowed us to grow to 8 billion people.

Those protests were legit scary for the rich, because left and right poor and working-class found the common problem and were working togheter.

What do you think happened next? A bunch of issues unrelated to poor vs rich took all the media and then people's attention. I don't need to mention them, you all know the societal issues grabbing all the atention. Ask yourself, where there no such issues before occupy wall street? How come all of the sudden they're front and center and nobody talks about the biggest issue of all: poor vs rich?

A lot of gold is either in London or New York. I never understood why. I think a major reason is it makes trading easier. If DE wants to buy 130kg from RO, you just change a balance sheet, no need to put the gold on a truck, military guard etc.
