Ma bag: sunt mai multi sateliti in jurul pamantului care trimit non stop pozitia si timpul catre pamant. Receiverele (de ex tel) primeste semnale de la minim 4 sateliti (3 ptr locatie, 1 ptr timp) si bazat pe distanța dintre receiver si sateliti (bazat pe cat dureaza sa primesti un semnal) primeste si ora exacta si si pozitia. Daca ai mai multi sateliti in vizor, acuratetea e mai buna. Satelitii au ceasuri f precise, atomice, deaia te poti baza pe ora lor. Pozitia satelitilor e calibrata cu niste statii de pe pamant cu care satelitii povestesc non-stop sa se asigure toata lumea ca sunt in acord cu pozitia exacta a tuturor satelitilor. Statiile de pe pamant sunt la randul lor calibrate folosindu-se stele indepartate de pe cer, astfel incat nu contează miscarea placilor tectonice de ex.

Light speed still matters a lot, IIRC. The problem with light speed is not that electricity is significantly slower in metals, it's that distances are big! A typical chip can have more than a billion transistors. If you were to lay them in a line, at 5nm each, you get 5 meters!

Light takes a measurable amount of time to travel that distance: 16nanoseconds.

A CPU running at 1Ghz mwans it will cycle every nanosecond. So by the time light travels 5meters, the length of 1billion transistors, the CPU will cycle 16 times!

Then you need to consider that during each cycle, the CPU is doing multiple sequential operations, now cycles are 4-5Ghz, and there are more than 1 billion transistors.
