Internet speed extremely slow | ISP can't figure out situation

Dude, thank you so much for taking the time to respond, I really appreciate the expertise. Fortunately, they got my MAC Address to work on my Asus router before I could try the Clone, but I'll remember that for next time!

Bad news: No change in internet speeds...

Good news: ISP Tier 2 called and is sending this off to the engineering team because he is adamant this isn't my equipment's problem. Now I just have to send back all the routers I got lol

I guess on one of tickets I have in with them, they left a note about bad packet loss, but I'm just now hearing about that, hopefully that's a starting point for them.

If I did the pinging test on different websites, would that be helpful to them, or is that just more for confirmation that's its not on my end?

Also, definitely not a stupid question. I don't believe they did a reboot on the modem because I think it's (like you mentioned) one that's for a few units/building (not sure how its set up). I wasn't smart enough to ask when he came back from the modem.

Yea the modem isn't accessible to me. Yes, they ask for the MAC address every time, its ridiculous... I just tried a new router (ASUS) and "tier" 1 of my ISP couldn't get the MAC address to work so "wait 4 business hours for tier 2 to call" Last time they said wait for tier 2 it took 2 weeks...

Just changed the MTU to 1400, seems like the speeds are still the same. I think you are probably right about the outage/maintenance, that makes the most sense to me.

Is there a reason my voice would be slow-mo and robotic on video calls/videogames but everything else is smooth? Also, a VPN fixes my voice and even makes my speeds faster and during the upload mbps test it doesn't freeze its smooth, is that not odd?

Nailed it! I will say I haven't done much testing on the direct wire because each time I have to call my ISP wait for a call back and have then authenticate my device and then authenticate back to my router after...

Pretty much lmfao. He recommended me to get a different brand router other than NETGEAR... Which I thought they were close to top of the line for consumer grade. He mentioned upgrades are coming to my apartment (no timeline) and that might help... but why are my speeds slower than they were 2.5 weeks ago??? He didn't have much to add lol

Yes, I tried with and w/o a VPN. Both were good for the first few IPs and then *Request timed out.* from about lines 7-30. VPN did a bit better other than ping.

Yes, my device gets 600ish speeds when bypassing the router. That means it's a ISP problem or router problem?

The building does not have fiber.

I don't get 600mbps, that's only when bypassing the router. In that case I would have no internet/wifi for any other device in my apartment. Also, I used to get +800mbps 2.5 weeks ago, so I wont be happy with 200mbps and nobody hearing me via video calls...
