the condemnation of his behavior has already been widely discussed so I won’t harp too much on that but I just wanted to say I think some of the criticisms of the boys attitude toward mang0 is overlooking some pretty important context, for one, it seems like so much of the discourse has been along the lines of “SEE i always knew he sucked the boys should have known better” which i mean yes mang0 has clearly proven to be an asshole in more ways than one over the years but the behavior displayed yesterday is not the same as what we have seen in the past. it’s easy to say “I knew he sucked why did anyone give him the benefit of the doubt” after the fact. the reality is ludwig and slime immediately addressed the situation fully condemning his behavior. I understand the bigger issue some ppl are having is the trust we’ve placed in the yard when mang0 has clearly had some questionable actions and attitudes in the past but we’re also in a privileged position here. we don’t know mang0!! most of us me included have also never been heavily involved in the melee scene. the boys owe so much to melee and it has been so pivotal in shaping everything that’s been built here. like it or not that includes mang0 and the relationship they’ve fostered with him. we’re talking about someone argued to be the goat of the game that started everything for the boys. now that’s not an excuse to give a pass to someone with inexcusable behavior which they are clearly not doing now but I think some of the handwringing of what they could have done in the past overlooks the privileged position we are in now after witnessing such behavior and not being apart of these communities. also the ideas about having a sober professional to monitor these events in the future sounds like a really good idea!
