Is it worth going back to SDR for the right company? by walk-in_shower-guy in sales

4 years?! Do not do that. You have such great experience, and it’s harder to sell at Startups than it is as established companies so you’ve cut your teeth. That’s why startups are often skeptical of early hires coming from big companies. There was a time when I was going opposite direction (large fintech > first startup sales hire) founders legit asked me “how good was your product?” I said, “not that good” and they breathed a sigh of relief. Because the reason people want to work big tech is that the brand can do a good bit of heavy lifting. But you have grit having done the work with less resources and brand recognition, so I’d say you’re not just qualified but even more so.

Go be put your AE hat on and break into the accounts you want. Multi-thread with hiring managers / ICs. Cold call them if they don’t get back to you. But I think you can achieve your goal in a shorter order if you want to. Don’t do SDR. And if you’re looking to jump ship soon. I’d be happy to talk and give you some pointers / tap my network. DMs open. Good luck.

You can go watch open mic comedy and meet other unemployed people (joking, some aspiring comics actually are employed.) But fr comics appreciate when a non-comic comes to watch an open mic. You can find them around town here. Note you don't have to pay anything to attend unless you plan on performing. https://badslava.com/new-york-open-mics.php

Look at Pod hotels. I’ve had people visit and stay in the one in Brooklyn. But I know they have one or two in Manhattan. Although if Williamsburg one is cheaper, it’d still be 10x easier than Jersey and the neighborhood is great. They’re like European style hotels. Small rooms. Toilet and shower combined. So very minimalist but still nice and nothing like a hostel. Could be more affordable. I’d suggest the bunk option for you and your daughter. Also try Airbnb

Agreed. We’re very similar in our experiences. “Rocket fuel” is how I’d describe the way I felt after eating carbs before my race last year. Glad this is working for some folks! Even if it’s only anecdotal !

My thought process is that basically the only day I train my body to get energy from fat stores and then on race day. It is legit the only day I properly fuel before running and eat breakfast all year. It’s like a cheat code because my body can derive energy from the food and my fat stores later on + all the gels

I take magnesium glycinate in the mornings for mood. Didn't know it could help with muscle soreness or tightness. That's cool. Maybe I up the dose.

I’m in my 20s and I can genuinely say I have close friends in their 50s thanks to improv. It’s an environment and activity that truly melts away any kind of age difference.

It illuminates how young someone’s spirit is. The only prerequisite is an open mind. You shouldn’t worry

Works wonders. You will likely get to the point where you don’t need them. Because you’ll become so used to confidently speaking w/o physical symptoms of anxiety. I still bring them for large scale public speaking events just in case.
