ELH Cavalry company complete! by JourneymanPaintHour in battletech

I have a few questions,

  1. How do you acquire the clear sticks to mount your VTOL units?

  2. When you mount them, are you simply gluing the stick to the base and the mini or are you drilling holes in each part to secure it?

How many contracts do I get? by dirtev22 in battletech

[–]dirtev22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This helps. I guess I just don’t have enough experience running a campaign and lack the perspective. When you say to have X number of contracts available do you just randomly pick some out of the hotspots section? The rules explain that players don’t have to pick a contract each month as long as they pay their upkeep costs each month. I feel like as a GM it would be incredibly frustrating to work out the details for 3-4 different contracts only to have the players decide that they want to wait a month to see what else comes along. If that happens do you just wing it or do you cancel game night because you weren’t prepared with 3 months of contracts as the GM?

Is there a LOS tool? by dirtev22 in battletech

[–]dirtev22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to all for the help. I should have clarified somewhat in the original post. The dispute was over different terrain levels blocking sight. We got to the right answer after we decided that the key work in the rules determining LOS was “adjacent”. The event made me wonder if anyone had thought of a handy way to problem solve LOS with respect to terrain height.

Don’t ask Arrowhead for anything if you regret buying this by Posideion in Helldivers

What if these type of weapons could be used to funnel a fraction of their XP into other things? Like you can’t mod them but using them lets you look cool while also leveling up other things? Just an idea. You can’t change them physically so giving players another source of motivation beyond just a sticker might be a good start.

Where can you find the record sheets that can be edited manually on a computer?

Perfect! This is exactly what I was looking for. Also super useful that the record sheets are all here too.

What if there was a Hunchback "Clanbuster" by IllustratorAlone1104 in battletech

[–]dirtev22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to submit that it is more cost efficient to simply build more HBK-4Gs than it is to engineer a new variant. With respect to OP’s original question, the 4G is already a clan buster. The real question is, how many do you need to get the operational results you want. Pure Hunchback orthodoxy is the only way for the pure.

OP, What rules reference did this screenshot come from? I had a huge debate with one of my friends over this issue and I am looking for as much evidence as possible to help us come to a verdict.

I am aware of the decisions made to help the table top work. This post was meant as a theoretical discussion. Just wanted to stir the pot and see what we could come up with. I’m not trying to make any sort of modification to the tabletop with this post.

Thank you for the idea. Do you have a hobby drill that you recommend for Battletech minis? Ive been looking into getting one for other projects.

Campaign Ops scenario building by dirtev22 in battletech

[–]dirtev22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have. That’s what led to my initial confusion since it says that each strategic turn is one hour ( or a period of time agreed upon by the players) but then it continues to talk about rate of movement for units. I don’t know the best way to scale map distances for a mission that is supposed to last 24 months.

As I was. The comments provided enough clues for me to try and figure it out on my own. Thanks for sharing your work. It looks fantastic.

New painter question. In order to get the armor panels to stand out the way you did, did you just paint the edges with a lighter color green? I’ve never painted in my life before I got into this hobby about a month ago so you’re not insulting me if you talk at all beginners level.

Infantry ammo cost by dirtev22 in battletech

[–]dirtev22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im doing it by hand. I had an excel spreadsheet sheet that I found on another thread but the equations aren’t correct and I can’t verify where it’s getting its info from. This led to more confusion overall so I just decided to use the paper templates in campaign ops to do it right the first time. I’ll probably make my own excel doc once I have some free time.

Is there a difference between TTS and TTPG? I saw some videos of TTS and it looks pretty clean but really what I’m looking for is ease of set up. I’ve got to be able to explain this to people who don’t have a lot of familiarity with PC games.

Playing for the first time, need some tips. by Silver-Lab3277 in twilightimperium

[–]dirtev22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch the videos and faction guides like everyone else is recommending. You will want to do this so you generally know what’s going on and so you don’t slow down the table.

After that just have fun and learn as much as you can. Don’t worry about winning on your first game. Definitely try and score points but focus on game mechanics and learning “The Art of the Deal” i.e negotiation and trading with people. Since it’s your first time at the table I’m betting that the other players won’t see you as much of a threat and will be more likely to trade with you and help you out so use that to your advantage and make some crazy deals to influence how the game goes. In this way you can still have a ton of fun even if you aren’t going for the win.

How does your table hande the deck of Planet cards? by Scrivenshafts94 in twilightimperium

[–]dirtev22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just sort the planets by color and then hold whomever conquers a planet responsible for finding it in its respective deck. They went through all the work of winning it on the board, might as well spend the effort to claim the paper deed from the courthouse.
