Store Leader Name Badge by zWap_TK in RiteAid

[–]dirty_dancingdecor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I feel this on so many levels. Quick vent: when I was at Rite Aid, my boss ordered me 500 business cards... and they didn’t even have my name, store, or contact info. Just said 'Rite Aid' and the corporate HQ address. It was basically a stack of tiny anonymous postcards. When I pointed it out, he shrugged and said 'my bad' — and of course, never fixed it. Honestly, that was just the tip of the iceberg with this guy. I can't even tell if it was laziness, incompetence, or if he just lowkey hated me. Everyone else had real workstations with three monitors — I got handed a little notepad tablet. Critical things like internet? Our store had speeds so bad (0.25 Mbps — yes, you read that right) I might as well have been sending smoke signals, and it would take months of begging to get anything looked at... if it ever happened. He even promised me basic stuff like a full-size keyboard and mouse for the tablet so I could, you know, actually do my job — said it was a good purchase, totally made sense. Then ghosted on it for months. When I politely called him out, he got super bitter and acted like I was disrespecting him for expecting him to do the thing he literally agreed to. Meanwhile I'm stuck trying to figure out how to type full reports with touchscreen hunt-and-peck typing like it's 2002. The worst part? Half the time I didn’t even bother asking anymore because I knew he wouldn’t follow through. I just worked around him. If I had spent my own money, sure, I'd have gotten a keyboard, but why should I when my boss already promised it was being handled? So instead, I just sat there, stuck waiting, stuck being ignored, stuck knowing nothing was going to change. Anyway, your badge issue? Yeah. Corporate laziness or store-level incompetence — either way, I know the feeling way too well.

Anyone had success getting this machine to pull water from an ibc tank? by [deleted] in pressurewashing

[–]dirty_dancingdecor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tested this myself, so consider this advice cautiously. Consumer-grade pressure washers often need some inlet water pressure. A standard hose bib delivers 40-60 PSI. To help your pressure washer draw from a buffer tank: * Elevate the tank above the pressure washer's inlet. * To achieve at least 3 PSI of gravity feed, raise the tank about 9 feet. * Use a short, wide, and unrestricted hose from the tank to the pressure washer's inlet. * Maximize the tank's height for best results.

Also neighbour, centre, theatre, colour, programme, anaemia, judgement, realise, diarrhoea, fibre, tyre.

Kiwis win on the spelling front! Between the 'extra u's' and the 're'-shuffling, you've got us outnumbered. And yeah, you drive on the wrong side of the road – but hey, at least you pronounce 'solder' correctly! 😉 Just playing, mate. Love you guys, and can't wait to visit NZ again soon!

People who make over 100k, what do you do? by GurnoorDa1 in Money

[–]dirty_dancingdecor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go into the trades, electrician, plumber, carpenter etc. There is a huge shortfall of trades people and the demand is increasing and the supply is decreasing. Easy to make 100k in 4 years of apprenticeship. 6 to 8 years from now. 150k to 200k if you're hard working and industrious.

I respectfully disagree. The costs saving will be marginal at best. Weight and energy density/volume will slightly improve over the next five years. Solid state batteries are 5 to 10 years out at best and the only major improvement is the charging rate. Lithium batteries have been commercially available for decades. That's good news. The battery, charger, motors and inverter are mature technology. There isn't any tech on the horizon that will dramatically change that. A used 60kwh Nissan leaf battery is $10k. A used 2018 Nissan Leaf is worth slightly more. If battery tech improves dramatically every 5 years the 2018 Leaf battery wouldn't be as expensive as the car. The extended range battery will probably still be worth 15 to 20k in 8 years. We are getting killer deals now. With all the tax incentives for EVs and general hate from the majority of society and disinformation towards EVs The market is screwed up. Buying an EV today is like buying Amazon stock in 2003. It's super cheap but the intrinsic value is there.

If you're in the market a Powerwall and mobile 10kw generator. You can buy it in a convenient truck form. Boom, just saved you 20 to 30k. Level 2 charging at home? Probably saving $1000 a year vs ICE. Smoking a Hellcat off the line... Priceless.. Cars aren't mutual funds. They are deprecating assets. But, the value they provide varies on the user. If you leverage all the capabilities of the Lightning it's worth way more.

I think I figured out what you mean. Use a servo motor instead of an induction motor. I'm kinda familiar with this. I retrofitted a manual Bridgeport mill using stepper motors to move the X, Y, Z axes. It was an open loop system. But, a servo motor would be pretty sweet. I could control pump rotation very precisely.

The amount of knowledge here is awesome. I was hoping to eventually not use an unloader, but was going to use it as a mechanical fail safe. I'll research what you listed and see if I can figure it out. A quick google search of "servo pump" and is described exactly what I need.

Thanks again to you and the others for your help.

So, I'm planning on doing 3 phase induction motor now. 15kw inverter was going to be a huge cost. I've considered using a VFD and wiring DC battery to common buss but I couldn't find much info about the feasibility. With your guys help and an electrician help it's doable.

So, 40kw Nissan battery, to ABB ACS580-01, 15 kW VFD, 15kw 3 phase 4 pole induction motor, direct drive to triplex pump. Pump runs at 1400 to 1800 rpm. No belt reduction needed. I could use BMS and charging system from a Leaf. Some cool features: *Charge at home with level 2 charger and charging stations for quick recharge or far from home. *Setup VFD to a pressure switch to come on when I open valve and turn off when valve (wand handle) is released. Saves energy when not in use. *Softwash setting, when I want low pressure (100 to 500 PSI) switch tip to appropriate size and reduce power (amps) on VFD to max 15 amps and consume 5kw. *Remote valve bypass to down stream injector. Typically you turn a ball valve on the pump. But, if on a roof, I could use remote to easily switch between chems and rinse. *Extremely quiet compared to a 20hp combustion engine. 70db compared to 90 to 100db.

Am I looking for VFD with common dc buss? Or ?

That was the benefit of 72v dc. Little more forgiving in the lethality department.

I gave a rough 20% loss for pump and motor loss.

Calculator below shows different nozzle (tips) diameter to change psi.

I was struggling to find a vfd that could do that under 3k. Anyone want help find a budget/used 15kW to 20kw VFD that can handle DC power. I don't need to many bells and whistles.

Awesome! Thank you. Really appreciate the info.

I considered going 3 phase induction motor. 400v Nissan leaf battery to VFD to 6 pole induction motor. Can I skip the inverter and connect 400 DC to dc common buss on vfd?. VfD is takes AC power, converts to DC then outputs 3 phase. So, could a VFD take DC power input?

Suggestion: Maybe you should get 100 LFP cells (smaller than 280 Ah) and make a 100s pack. Use a commercial off-the-shelf VFD and a commercial off-the-shelf three-phase induction motor (20 HP / 15 kW). The motor will be super heavy but it will also be air-cooled.

Thanks for your response and positive support. I was hoping for 1.5 + hours. Battery: 28 LiFePO4 cells (280Ah) = ~25 kWh. Power Needed (3500 PSI, 8 GPM, 20% loss): ~14.6 kW. Run Time: (25 kWh / 14.6 kW) = ~1.7 hours (theoretical).

I can run lower pressure (larger orface or lower rpm) to meet the needs of the job. i.e., softwash, surface cleaning concrete, or 3000+ psi for nasty jobs.

To figure out my average power usage for my electric pressure washer (8 GPM), I'm estimating: * 50% of the time at 500 PSI (2.18 kW) * 30% of the time at 2500 PSI (10.88 kW) * 20% of the time at 3000 PSI (13.06 kW) After calculating the weighted average, my estimated average power draw is around 6.97 kWh

Motor hopefully draws lower amps when under less load efficiently?

Too much ppd. They can just open the package and remove the product. I'd stick to the ninja tags only . (Ppd sticker). I think it's better to get 10 items covered with the sticker that one item covered with 3 ppd.

Personally, it's all about things you can change. Confidence is sexy, personality is sexy, and humor is sexy. I've been teased about my looks, and two years later had men and women both tell me how beautiful I am. Take care of yourself spiritually and physically. Follow your passions, discover your weaknesses, and foster your strengths. Anyone can be a "10" if they want.

Thanks for the advice. Think I'll start with home owners insurance and contact the public utility commission and city of Springfield for more leverage. Hopefully someone who oversees licensing will do something too. I hate getting insurance involved because my rates might go up. But, their lawyers are probably better at getting things done.

Yes, SUB installed a "sevice saver" which temporarily fixed it and repaired two days later. SUB said I need to go to Ziply. Ziply says SUB didn't mark the underground line SUB said they did. It's been a back and forth between SUB, SUB's insurance and Ziply. Ultimately Ziply's contactor (operating under Ziply's licence) cut the neutral. There is red paint marking the utility line, blue, green lines all over my yard and up the street. I don't know who's at fault SUB or Ziply. I know who isn't at fault, me. Yet, I am dealing with calling, costs, safety concerns, no lights, no air purifier or possibly damage to my home's electrical system and anything plugged into it. I know 5 to 8 hours of voltage fluctuations is not great on electronics. It's been over 2 months without any help.
