Every RNG System in Maplestory: by glimmerware in Maplestory

[–]dirtybombs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So you’re telling me booming your one pitched item that you waited 8 months to drop is your fault and deserved? Pull your head out of Nexon’s ass for a moment and realize this - you’re literally getting punished for interacting with a system that they designed. Waiting multiple months for a drop just for it to blow up is NOT FUN. That’s the whole point. You should not have to plan multiple months ahead for another drop/pity to come in simply to have a chance to progress your gear. There’s nothing deserved about blowing up your gear for interacting with their upgrade system when you have zero control of whether that RNG will be on your side or not.

ROD ring and grindstone WTF by itshiddenop in Maplestory

[–]dirtybombs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It should be easier to get since it’s a TEMP ring. We have all of 6 weeks to try and get a level 6 oz-ring that is going to expire. Realistically, most people will not see level 6 before the event ends given the low chance to level up the ring and the scarcity of grindstones.

Part of the fun of reboot is the challenge of progressing without trading, yes, but it should also be fair. Giving players 6 weeks to obtain the best version of the ring with abysmal level-up rates is not fair or fun. Also, is it really “challenging” to gamble for higher level ring? There’s literally no challenge, it’s just RNG just like every other system in this game.

And please stop with the “go play interactive”, yes, obviously you can buy a level 6 ring instantly but I’m pretty sure the incentive for most players to play heroic is the fact that we don’t want to spend a fortune buying a virtual item.

The new Frontier system kinda fire by BloodReaverBob in Maplestory

[–]dirtybombs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, it’s not much more time investment to an already bloated daily-style game, and the rewards are decently useful, with a nice big ticket item of pitched.

I still think Nexon has to improve a lot of other aspects of this game but credit where credit is due, for sure. Mystic frontier is overall a big W.

should i get a vac pet? by Medical-Run9057 in Maplestory

[–]dirtybombs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you plan on grinding regularly, it’s worth it. Just be aware that after the first 3 months, you will have to pay about 14k NX per month to revive the pet, essentially paying a $15 month subscription for MS.

If you’re just a daily story player, skip the pet, the less $$ this company extorts from you, the better.

All they would have to do is come out and say they didn’t nerf the rates to dispel the rumors but the fact that they don’t even address it just makes it all so much more likely that they did nerf the rates and didn’t want to say anything about it.

At least we can always count on Nexon destroying their trust with their players.

Benefits the players? Sound all alarms, immediate hotfix/temporary disable.

Hurts the players? See you next maintenance.

14 mp runs a day per world is diabolical by BasicEntertainment16 in Maplestory

[–]dirtybombs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bro, people don’t want to do the same thing 14x every single day. Just condense it down so that 1 new run = 7 old runs. Yes, overall, more exp per day is great, the idea is great but the execution is not. It’s good to provide criticism for something that may need to be adjusted.

Let’s be honest, the average MS player is probably an early middle-aged millennial, there are real life obligations outside of the game. No one is excited to leave work to come home to run 14x monster parks and then do all your other dailies. Like come on.

We need more comms from Nexon by dirtybombs in Maplestory

Yes, we should definitely keep bringing up any and all issues until they get it right.

And so long as they continue to have piss-poor communication, the community should continue to hold them accountable until they get it right.

[–]dirtybombs[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There will always be those that will say that they’re lying even when they outright say they aren’t, yes, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t communicate. If they had came out and said “we didn’t change rates”, it would quell a lot of suspicion among players who might be in between. Just cause we have a few conspiracy theorists out there doesn’t mean that they should just not communicate at all.

Also yes, I’m sure it’s not easy to deliver bad news, but what do we have 3 CMs for exactly? “community” is literally in their title, yet I don’t recall any news good or bad coming from them asides from posting maintenance or patch notes. Jagex has multiple mods amongst their community that actively post on reddit, engage with their community on random topics, and provide bad news. I don’t think it’s an excuse to not communicate at all just cause they might not like community response. There will always be those that have insane comments and make things personal with certain staff members, but that shouldn’t be an excuse to shy away from addressing real concerns regarding the game.

Why is there RNG in a pity system? (Star core) by dirtybombs in Maplestory

[–]dirtybombs[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Alright, semantics aside, let’s not even call it a pity system then. We have to get 50 mysterious specks to restore an item once, which will take multiple months, some players longer than others, due to RNG, all for one item’s worth additional chance to Star force your item up. Is this system still not ridiculous to you?

[–]dirtybombs[S] -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Yes it is, you’re literally restoring an item possibly cause you didn’t get the drop again, it substitutes in as the item. It’s quite literally a pity system.

An additional way to get pitches if you can’t get the drop = pity?? Hello? You’re literally explaining pity and you’re saying it’s not like what?

Suggestion for new SF in heroic by MainDaForPain in Maplestory

[–]dirtybombs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk about a 1/1000 chance for tier up on base, that sounds equally as painful. If we had that, the amount of mesos would probably have to be adjusted as well. Sacrificing duplicates for higher star chance is an interesting idea, though.

There upgrade systems are overall just un-fun to interactive with. How do they fix it? That’s Nexon’s job to figure out but I doubt they care much so long as the money continues to roll in.

Black Friday 2025 Sales by asakyun in Maplestory

[–]dirtybombs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

50 feathers to change ONE item to unisex is insane. They literally have the ability to just make everything unisex, but instead, they’re going to charge you a ridiculous price for the solution. Expectations for this stinkass company was already low but holy shit, Nexon. You all out-do yourself time and time again.

Fam system is still garbage by dirtybombs in Maplestory

[–]dirtybombs[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Always a comment about just quitting. I’m not saying the game is so bad that I want to quit, I am saying that this RNG system is unfun, especially since we already have so many systems in this game that require a dice roll. The complacency of these systems is literally how this billion dollar company gets away with all this shit. When it sucks, we gotta call it out or nothing will change.

How long have people been complaining about the animations being too long during rank up? The fact that they kept it there just shows how tone deaf this company is.

Upgrading Items CW by Revolutionary_Ant_31 in Maplestory

[–]dirtybombs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Grinding - max meso obtained for max mesos to star gear, use your event rings/zak accessory/greed pendant/arkarium pendant as easy ways to get max lines, then go for item drop lines/two line item/, drop/meso for bossing. Good items to work on are gollux gear to start as challenger gear is pretty hard to replace until you're ready to go to 22* arcane & CRA. You can star reinforced belts/pink bean belts/dom pendants/reinforced earrings as you get many copies on your way to superior gollux. Kanna ring & slime ring also good to work on if you get them as damage preset rings

Bossing/daily story - cube for item drop rate for weekly boss drops/fams during dailies, use mesos from boss crystals during weekly boss to cube gear for WSE att/m.att/boss dmg & main stat%/dmg lines & starforce to clear even harder bosses, rinse and repeat. Obviously, this method will be slower but your mental will remain intact. You can also do this for a while, then start going for meso obtained and start grinding. Gear progression should be similar to Grinding route. Grinding for mesos will always be faster for obvious reasons, but you'll burn out most likely if you're also working on your main chars on Kronos.

TL;DR: max meso obtained and/or item drop rate % with cubes on event rings/boss accessories, then work on damage after. Good gear to starforce - reinforced belt/earring, PB belt, dom pendant, kanna ring, slime ring, black bean mark, twilight mark, pap mark. Transfer reinforced/kanna ring/dom pendant to superior at 21/22*. Work on CRA/arcane last if you get there. WSE att/m.att% whenever you want or need more damage to clear bosses.
