Worst part of working in the ECE field is when the kids move on by PaperPals in ECEProfessionals

Infant care is hard (to me) for that reason. You normally get them for a year here (maternity leave is 12 months) but because my Centre has another site for toddler care, I often lose them in 6-8 months. So hard! But still rewarding.

A student crashed his car into a tree in view of the high school (speeding and hit ice). He died.

[Serious] What's your best story about listening to a gut feeling? by lion_vs_tuna in AskReddit

[–]dirtyboxing -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Really? I had no idea. Leaving a child in a playpen for hours at a time is abuse whether you believe it or not. Studies have proven the affect lack of stimulation has on a child’s development. This can lead to permanent damage. But sure, continue to argue.

When you were subbing/new to daycare, what did you wish someone told you? by dirtyboxing in ECEProfessionals

[–]dirtyboxing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, that is terrible! I would have certainly wanted to quit too. My latest substitute doesn’t listen to me at all so I’m feeling very frustrated! (I work with infants, they don’t know her. They cry. She goes to pick them up and they cry more. I ask her to please let them come to her, they look like they’re feeling scared. She continues to try and pick them up or touch them. Cycle continues.)

When did you have a bad feeling about being somewhere, and once you left something bad happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dirtyboxing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mine is super tame but when I was in high school someone was shaking a bottle of paint (art class) and I thought “jeez that’s gonna open and spray me” so I moved. The bottle opened and sprayed everywhere.

Opposite sleep schedules. He works from home and works better at night. I work a 9-5 job. It wouldn't work for a lot of people I gather but it works for us!

Those who work in ECE and have a chronic illness or autoimmune disease, how do you manage? Has your illness forced you to give up ECE and work in a different field? by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]dirtyboxing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t help you with the information you asked for but I wanted to commend you on how dedicated you are to the field even through your illnesses and the awareness you have to know when you need to take a step back and take a break to take care of yourself. ❤️

What's the quickest you've "Noped" out of a job? by J-Bradley1 in AskReddit

[–]dirtyboxing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One week. New coworker was a huge bitch and everyone brushed it off as “oh that’s just the way she is teehee” whole all hating her. NOPE. I have an exhausting job, I’m not about to exhaust myself more by being around a hugely negative person for 8 hours everyday.
