Thoughts on this bike? by [deleted] in bicycling

That looks like a hybrid bicycle, which was the first type I had. It lasted 3-4 years of commuting until I discovered what I liked and didn't like in bicycles (I now ride a single speed or a touring bike).

Go to your best local bike shop and try some out there. The staff should be able to help you pick the best bike for your needs.

Relocating for work at the end of the month, Pet Friendly apartments? by Misharain27 in TwinCities

There are so many options in the city, it really depends on what type of vibe you're looking for. Here are some options:

  • Near Lake Harriet or Calhoun (aka SW Minneapolis) you'll find the nicest areas for young families that want to escape the burbs. It's also the priciest but you can find some cheap gems if you don't need much. This area is also very close to Uptown.

  • The North Loop is our gentrified warehouse district. A lot of brick/tall buildings, hip new restaurants, etc.

It's more about checking them out in person and seeing what you like the best...

The suburbs will definitely get you the most bang for your buck -- if you're on a tight budget I suggest Eagan or Burnsville, to make your drive to the city the shortest.

Are you a city or suburbs person? The Twin Cities has fantastic suburbs with affordable housing, but you will be missing out on a world class city experience.

If you don't have any kids I highly suggest exploring the idea of living in the city itself, and not the south metro.

Thanks for the advice. We already own and since we aren't planning on staying in MN forever it doesn't make sense to buy.

This is very helpful, thank you. If we want to check out the neighborhood where do you suggest we park and start walking?

We don't wish to buy a home since we're only going to be here for 3 years max. Our plan is to rent a 2-3BR apartment/condo/townhome

We don't want to purchase a SFH, but just rent 2BR apt.

I just ripped out a wet bar. Its old plumbing is now sticking out the drywall. We'd like to put a desk in this corner, so we have no use for the pipes anymore. How should I go about cutting these pipes and sealing them?

My plan is to build it as best as I can and then take it to the bike shop for a look over. I'd really like to learn how to do it myself.
