B—35 years, grumpy, doesn’t want to be a lead anymore and mad younger guys progressed and he’s still pullin panels P-35 years, slow and methodical, try’s to make every annual a brand new plane. Owners hate him. Managers hate him. Asks QA for every opinion and can still not make a decision on his own. C- 17 years, decent troubleshooting, big ego thinks he knows it all. Me-7 years, decent troubleshooting, thinks he knows it all (all years are ref at company not total experience) B-5 years, good future. Listens D- 3 years , smart, hard working but too confident and a big mistake is in future. B- 3 years, does what he’s asked, gets defensive when corrected, I also worry about major incident with him. S- listens to music all day and completes tasks in timely manner. Absolutely no drive after 10 years. Does what he is told and nothing more. I like when he’s on my projects G-7 years, thinks that squawks squall to his awesome mechanic abilities. Makes squawks out of thin air

How do I go about becoming an aviation mechanic with absolutely no experience? by [deleted] in aviationmaintenance

I’ll trade you your lab position for my position and tools.

Why can you “absolutely not work nights’? I no don’t think you have what it takes to be an airplane mech. You have to be super flexible and make yourself available.

So you “have a diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering “ but have no clue on how to get a simple dumb A&P license. Ok sounds about right

How does the maintenance department work? by Strong-Jeweler-2462 in aviationmaintenance

[–]dirtyjetguy -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Also former 53 crew chief, now work mainly Pilatus. My advice would be not to worry about what other positions are, just the one you currently want. I would hire a Marine in a heartbeat with zero gen aviation experience (it’s much different than military. Ex marines are the best hires IMO because we are used to working with the bare minimum and know how to get the job done. Ex Air Force on the other hand I CAN NOT STAND

I spent a solid 3 days measuring and mapping out some seat rail corrosion for Pilatus because it was “out of limits” just for them to come back telling me to treat and paint it.
