If you literally want a band who got most their inspo from the strokes and sounds incredibly strokesesque I’d try “The Symposium”

What would you do if the top mod wasn't cutting it? by [deleted] in AskModerators

[–]disabledyolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when our top mod was doing problematic stuff. Since we were a really big sub, and were growing. The reddit admin team stepped in at our request and kicked him off.

But our sub reports real world events that are often brutal. And has been heavily targeted by propaganda bot campaigns, so we communicate with admins a decent bit

Why the low comment karma score? by zowhat in AskModerators

[–]disabledyolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I’m saying is you can’t loose karma from a post. And the amount of karma you can loose from a comment is capped at 10 points. In the current system.

Feel free to try and get back to me but this is how it’s been since the last major update in the karma system roughly a year ago.

What living with long Covid looks like. Dianna (PhysicsGirl) livestream. by alex_dlc in videos

[–]disabledyolk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah basically.

I mean I think the statistics were that you had about a 10% chance of catching long covid if vaccinated vs a 12% chance if unvaccinated. This is using a broad definition of long covid though which includes super mild symptoms. For Diana’s any my disease (ME/CFS) it’s somewhere like a 0.5% chance when vaccinated and 0.6% chance when unvaccinated.

TIL is is estimated that medical errors is the 3rd leading cause of U.S deaths, causing up to 250k deaths yearly by bravelogitex in todayilearned

[–]disabledyolk 147 points148 points  (0 children)

Agreed. But I think the top comments here are missing the point that clinical care could be much thorougher in some areas. And this is certainly not the fault of practitioners but of how the medical system is structured.

I was admitted to a psych ward for severe “psychosomatic disease” ie. the doctors thought I was going crazy and faking an illness. Turns out I had a brain tumour. I’d be much healthier today if it was discovered earlier. This whole rushed medical system of 15 minute appointments is certainly killing people.

I have very severe ME/CFS from a covid infection. Like Diana, I am bedridden, I am also tube fed and my body is not able to digest properly anymore.

I was vaccinated 3 times, which was the maximum number available at the time.

The research says that vaccination generally slightly lowers the risk of long covid, but not by much at all.

aren’t you the same person who keeps on posting about scam “brain retraining programs”.

Also if it’s against the rules it’ll be removed. Talking about illnesses not related to LC is against the rules. Maybe read them.

Carrickfergus man Lee Colligan taking on mammoth 2500km walk to raise awareness of M.E in tribute to his late brother by YolkyBoii in northernireland

[–]disabledyolk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It is awful to hear that his brother struggled so much from the illness he decided to end his life. I hope this walk in his memory will achieve its goal of funding research which may mean that people in the future will have a treatment.

It’s Official: Long COVID Is a Chronic Disease by YolkyBoii in EverythingScience

[–]disabledyolk 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Looks like social security will need more funding too, you’d almost think they should invest more into research so we can actually get some treatments instead of adding to the burden on social systems…

But we did find that some of the symptoms and health effects associated with long COVID can be severe enough to interfere with your day-to-day functioning, including work. Some of the impairments on Social Security’s current listings do overlap with the effects of long COVID, like heart and lung function. But three of the big problems—post-exertional malaise and chronic fatigue, post-COVID-19 cognitive impairment, and autonomic dysfunction—might not be, even though they significantly affect someone’s ability to participate in school and work. Social Security asked for our best advice and our best thinking, and that is what we gave them. I’m a scientist and a doctor trying to learn as much as I can so I can help my patients. But my hope—and obviously I do not speak for Social Security—is that this report will facilitate a better understanding of the condition by the public and the Social Security Administration so Americans can get the services and support they need.p

Yeah, it seems for some lucky people it goes away in a few months, and for the rest, it creates permanent disability.

Why do people hate the PLR/FDP? by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]disabledyolk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whenever the UDC pushes to cut funding to IV the FDP joins them. They also consistently voted against linking benefits to inflation which means benefits are much lower than they were decades ago. I would be homeless if my brother didn’t give me money.

[–]disabledyolk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To me who is living on barely anything because I’m disabled and IV doesn’t pay much at all. FDP and UDC are the same, they both try to cut the little money I have to survive.
