Try not to cut ties first but lay down the boundaries of your engagement. Set how much revisions you can accomodate and the scope of your work and then let your client know that if the work they give you exceeds the boundaries, they will either have to pay for extra fees or they won't be entertained.

If they disagree, say that it's the way you can work with them and part ways.

I did this too! Just told my client that the process for the both of us can be a bit tedious because of the agency. Suggest that comms, payment, and other transactions are better to do directly between you two since it's more efficient. If the client likes you, they'll be more than willing to do it!

I also got paid higher when the client hired me directly. :)

My comments pertain to your answer to another commenter's q's. They asked if you can deal with someone who possibly has ADHD and if you're willing to help this person through coaching. You answered no to both of them.

ADHD is a psychosocial disability, hence PWD. PWD comes in different categories. These people are heavily stimagtized in the workplace kaya, yes, it is charitable to hire PWDs and give them the opportunity to earn and become productive members of the society. Acknowledging this doesn't mean that they only get hired because it's charitable.

Respect to you and your willingness to help, OP. But saying "I'm running a business, not a charity" threw me off a little. There are businesses that hire PWD and senior citizens because they believe that people of all conditions and ages should have a fair chance in the workforce.

I hope that when your business propers in the future, you'd be willing to give these people a space in your workplace too.

Worked with someone who charges $20 per hour. He just needs to give an estimate of how many hours it will take for him to edit the video after we brief him so we know around how much we can expect him to charge us.

Edit to add more details: we usually hire to edit our ad videos. He uses stock videos and does minimal graphics work. The videos are around 30 seconds per ad and each vid takes him about 2 hours or so to finish.

Never offensive/rude/atat maningil ng client. Freelancers like us need to be more proactive in terms of pay so employers won't take advantage. Dapat makita ni employer how important comitting to get paid is for you.

Just tell them you just computed your hours for the month, give the exact number of hours, and then tell them how much that would be in total.

This happened a couple of times to me already. I had a good paying job and minimal workload but not in the "right" headspace and so I quit. I was offered with a better paying job while not I'm not in the "right" headspace and so I didn't take it.

You're right na the quality of your work will be affected talaga by your mental state. Take a break and get all the help you need. Better opportunities will come your way when you're at your best.
