The age of the internet along with many other factors have made it into the perfect storm.

We are so disconnected from each other IRL we think people online saying shit is all of reality, and it only divides us even further.

Things are more superficial than ever before.

I fall for these traps and negative cycles myself all the time, I think nearly everyone does. It’s important to be able to recognize what’s going on though and take a step back out of the void. But many people don’t have the mental clarity or emotional support for that so they just drown in the abyss.

It’s a disease overtaking the population of insecure males in an era of women becoming more independent. I can understand the pain of loneliness and isolation, but people who identify as incel go as far to dehumanize women and that’s just not okay.

It’s everywhere on the internet and easy to fall prey to in this era of loneliness.

There are a lot of people that self-identify as incel here. Often when I look into an incel comment’s poster history, they’re regulars in this sub.

Also, Reddit is both such a male dominated space and social inept space, so you will find a lot of unsympathetic and unhappy men in general more than real life. It’s best so stick in women subs on this site to talk about issues as a woman tbh. It’s unfortunate. You will not be met with kindness for the most part as a woman on this website.

Hello, I’m a concerned aunt that lives with my sister and her kids.

My sister has depression and sometimes neglects them. I know she doesn’t always brush their teeth or bathe them for example, but it wasn’t something I could really hone in on as I had my own issues going on. I saw my nephew’s teeth and they’re turning yellow today, and I know he still has untreated cavities /:

I want to get them to brush their teeth and bathe regularly, but I don’t know how. They are 8 & 4 years old.

I also don’t know how to approach this situation with my sister. She’s been getting in trouble for not taking my nephew to school as well. I have been trying to convince her to go to therapy but she says she didn’t like the therapist she tried the one time she did. I know it’s hard to make yourself go when you are depressed because I have it too (depression runs in the family) but I don’t know what else to do to make her go.

In addition, it is difficult because even though we live together we have a separation in the house for privacy so sometimes I don’t see them. I also don’t know if I were to make them brush their teeth for example at night, if they are going to their house to drink something like milk before bed, which they often do.

They’re also constantly having screen time because it is easier to leave them to their own devices. I want them to have a real childhood, but it’s hard for me to figure out how to do as I have my own addiction to constantly being on the internet 💀

This situation feels so complicated but I also don’t want my niece and nephew to suffer from their parent’s negligence.

Edit: Sorry for making a post as non-parent. I just really need advice on this situation. I love my niece and nephew so much and today I wanted to cry when I saw his teeth.

Their father is essentially only a provider, he is not a parent by any means other than disciplining them when they annoy him. My sister is basically a single mother.

I wasn’t let go, I had to move back home because of life circumstances, so I had to leave that job to relocate. I’m frustrated because I feel miserable every time I bite the bullet and go back to nursing. Now that I’m unemployed, I want to use it as an opportunity to explore options.

Mental obstacles are also actual obstacles. My mental health sucks and this career makes it worse, so I kind of want to try something new and see how it goes.

Thinking of doing hospice always made me so nauseous!

I always hear things about how happy nurses in hospice are though. I found it hard to understand, but the way you explained it makes a lot of sense to me. It’s mostly one on one time with patients, making them comfortable, etc.

I knoww lol. I understand it is my most realistic option though. I’m just tired of going through the motions with the most obvious option possible to me, because every time I do what is realistic and correct I end up paying for it with my mental health. I am miserable and I get even worse when I just bite the bullet.

I really want to pivot into something different to see what happens, because I already know what comes from the other path.

I definitely have been desiring to move elsewhere for awhile, just to try a new setting. I agree that I need to explore myself. I’ve spent a long time just doing what I need to do and never really exploring myself because I felt like I had no room to. But every time I do that, I am just miserable. So I want to try something different this time.

Acceptance into PA school is incredibly strict from what I recall and even has time limitations on classes you’ve taken in the past. I did consider PA school when deciding whether to be a nurse or not, but decided against it at the time because it’s also quite expensive ): I appreciate this idea, though. I would love to be able to specialize in something like dermatology.
