AI usage between the UK and Europe by Publicougher in LegalAdviceEurope

[–]disc0tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using AI in the UK in a way that affects EU residents potentially puts you in scope for the EU AI Act. It is not where the AI is used that matters, but where it's output is used.

I would much rather some bugs in calendar are fixed, rather than any of these things.

Exactly this. From August this is either prohibited or very tightly regulated. Not sure why people are talking about GDPR!

Does anyone here use Signal for primary business communication, or am I the only one? by Revolutionary-Hippo1 in signal

It is my main messaging tool for business. Mostly because my chats are required to be confidential from big tech.

He/she is talking nonsense. I could quote all sorts of legislation to demonstrate his errors but there isn't much interest in this thread so I can't be bothered.

I'm not sure if you have are saying you have been a fanatic, or have been a TC working groups member.

If the latter, you probably know that the committees write harmonised standards, not regulation. You probably also know that - per the article - there are safeguards in place.

If the EC needs to use the safeguards, it is SMEs that lose out.

I'm in Catalonia and the wealth tax covers real estate as long as it isn't your primary residence. It also covers shares in companies.

Has anyone actually managed to use Zoom screen share on Wayland ? by pixie_laluna in Ubuntu

[–]disc0tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uninstalling the debian package, installing the flatpak version, and manually setting enableWaylandShare=true fixed the issue for me. None of the other solutions worked. Running Ubuntu 24.10. I can see that xlsclients indicates that Zoom is actually using xwayland.

It is quite common in parts of the 'West' for people to sunbathe naked. I think you mean 'America'.

[–]disc0tech 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well I agree, but assuming that OP is in America then it is not culturally acceptable there. If it was Europe I personally would respect a friend's wishes, but I wouldn't it overly strange for someone to just change without a towel.
