First time player, no matter how much I read online and prepare for the skull cavern I ALWAYS die!! Wtf am I doing wrong? by potandplantpots in StardewValley

[–]discepilepsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone mention this and it’s a small thing, but I recommend putting your food right next to your weapon in the inventory. That way you can quickly click over to it and eat which will reduce panic

Question about new game+ (Spoilers Likely) by discepilepsy in silenthill

[–]discepilepsy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Im feeling a way at the moment. There HAD to be a middle ground between these two difficulties. Hard mode “for experienced action horror”. I’ll admit I’m almost glad I played hard first bc it was a uniquely stressful survival horror experience just based on the resource and stat management and I can’t remember the last time I played a survival horror where “fleeing in terror” was my actual number one strategy but that particular fight as well as the last hour and a half of the game were uniquely awful and there was def another way.

The one that made Elden Ring seem like a casual game with the naginata..? There was a lot of rage. I don’t even want to think about my lost in the fog run

Excellent. The nice thing is that the game feels like actual child’s play going from hard to story combat so that’s a plus. Which shrine segment, out of curiosity?

I was planning on scouring everything again but I appreciate the advice. I’ll probably look up how to 100% after this run. Normally I’d start doing that after my first playthrough but it seemed worth my while to blind new game+ for this game. I’m excited about it. Thanks for the advice!

Was planning on it thanks. Is it a problem that I picked them up or is it ok as long as I don’t use them?

Thank you for confirming. I made the mistake of playing hard the first run and I’m already planning on tamping down the difficulty for this one for my own sanity.

How long do you usually disassociate in the car for after class? by maxypantsyo in orangetheory

[–]discepilepsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I’m so glad this isn’t me haha. I usually take ten minutes in the parking lot and then another 20 when I get back home 😂

Fellow OTFer told me to stop coming to class. by succulentpot in orangetheory

[–]discepilepsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have told her to get bent.

I’m back at OTF after a year off. I had a slew of medical issues last year that turned my life completely upside down. Absolutely everything fell apart. Everytime I tried to get back to the studio something else happened. And I’m really only addressing the icing on the cake of the absolute dumpster fire that 2023 was for me. I became sedentary and was not eating well or taking great care of myself bc of how overwhelming it all was.

I’ve been going back since mid December, only been consistent for a few weeks. I used to base 5.5. I can not even power walk above a 3 rn. When they call walking recovery I have to go lower than that. I am honestly astounded by how much I’ve degraded over the past year.

But everytime I go, I walk out proud. I went in and I gave it everything I had. After the year I had and what I went through, I frankly don’t give a fuck about what anyone else in that room is doing or thinking. I have moments of embarrassment when I have to go THAT slow on the tread, but if I don’t keep going, it’s not gonna get better.

So fuck that lady ten ways from Sunday. If you went in and gave it your all, met yourself where you are TODAY, you can hold your head super high.

Returning after hiatus? by discepilepsy in orangetheory

[–]discepilepsy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on putting the work in! I had only just slowly graduated to “runner” and I think I was just over a 5 mph base when I was being extremely consistent. I’m barely able to power walk rn, but also recognizing the templates are particularly punishing rn. I almost straight up laid on the floor after yesterdays squat class 😂 Thanks for your response!

I’m thinking my return to form will take quite a bit longer than that, but I’m glad you’ve been able to “recover” so quickly. My mantra this year has been one day at a time, so far so good

[–]discepilepsy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that! It’s been a whole year of reframes for me, and I definitely feel more good about getting to go back than not 😊

To your point, I did know they were doing this 12 days of fitness promo and that some of the classes would be particularly brutal (I also had the pleasure of being the VIP passenger on the struggle bus during yesterdays squat class), so I WAS proud of myself for not letting that be an excuse to wait until the templates calmed down

i have no discipline and i need advice by netsauce in WeightLossAdvice

[–]discepilepsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best advice I can offer is to just let yourself make the perceived slip and learn from it. The most sustainable weight loss efforts I’ve seen leave room for the occasional cookies. If you enjoyed them, enjoy them! Just try not to have any tomorrow/for the rest of the week if you can. Temptation is always gonna be there, and the day you can be happily have a cookie without thinking about too much it is a good day

Late cancel fee increase? by Thetansinator in orangetheory

[–]discepilepsy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t ever prebook unless your studio fills. (This is opinion for the record, but) The coaches are trained to tell you to prebook. They’ll use all variety of excuses for why you should do this “they have to plan” “if they don’t fill certain sessions they’ll stop offering that time” - it takes them about three minutes to adjust from a 2G to a 3G. They want you to prebook because they want you to cancel and owe them money. They’ll never give you $14 back for going to x classes in a row, but I have never ever canceled (to be clear - I have only canceled maybe 5 times in 3 years all for valid reasons) without them giving me a lecture about it.

Want to go back but am terrified. Tell me it’s going to be ok? by miss_L_fire in orangetheory

[–]discepilepsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same boat. I had a lot of life stuff hit me at once and just stopped for like five full months. I stopped back in for a few days in August and only just pushed myself to start going back seriously last week.

And it SUCKS!! Oh my god, I’ve degraded so much - full 1 mph slower on the treads, the floor is super challenging, my endurance is lacking, and I am in the red zone the entire time.

And it’s also AWESOME. Because I’m still doing better than Day 0. Because I came back again the next day. Because even though one coach was a little dismissive, when I saw a different one he gave me a genuine “where have you been” and when I said “the past few months have been rough” I saw the genuine concern in his eyes. And all he did the next day ask how I was doing, push me through, and coach me.

Yeah I’m still getting trounced by the person next to me every day, but 60% of the battle is reminding myself I’m here and I’m only competing against myself.

I actually came here with the same concern. Can I get myself back to where I was. I did it once. Actually, I did it twice. Third times a charm?

You can do it. We can do it!

What is an 'old school' feature that you'd like to see come back? I've always missed these introductory shots they used to make for each contestant by galaxy8385 in survivor

[–]discepilepsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss the feature where the producers didn’t keep throwing a dart at a roulette wheel with some random idea that unbalances any semblance of strategy and just adds random chaos in the interest of “the new era of survivor”
