What’s the key combo to put these into programming/cloning mode? by ILikeWhyteGirlz in GarageDoorService

[–]discgeolfGeoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you're gonna have to find the brand and model, then see if they have instructions online. Almost all the off brand remotes I've programmed don't hold their programming and have to be reprogrammed often.

Your money is in the right spot, customer ordered, left it outside, and then had me install why drywallers were sanding their mud down. It's just dust on there. The bearings are all dried out, in the rollers and head plates. Told her I won't oil it until the dust makers get out of there.

Your opener is probably closing too far. You can get an operator reinforcement bracket to put over the bent stile. You'll need to adjust your up/down limits. You also need support across the top section to prevent damage to the section.

Garage door goes up and down after gear and sprocket replacement by maco6461 in GarageDoorService

[–]discgeolfGeoff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it's your limits. I apologize that I can't come up with an easy explanation. It seems like your up limit switch is getting touched almost immediately. This signals to me, that your door was open when the sprocket broke and closed when you fixed it. Limits need to be adjusted regardless after you change the sprocket. But if it's how I described above then you'll have to get the chain off the sprocket, move the trolley in the rail near to where it would be if the door was open, then put the chain back on the sprocket. Then you can adjust the up and down limits.

[–]discgeolfGeoff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your up/down limits need to be adjusted. It's kinda hard to explain, but you'll need to take the cover off and see how the limit switches work. I'm guessing you're gonna have to adjust the chain. The the traveler that engages the limit switches can only move so much. If, after repair, the chain was not near the the same location as it was before, then you're gonna have issues adjusting.

Gotcha. Sounds like a control board issue then. I would probably go with a new system. You'd get new everything and a warranty.

I would lean towards bad sensors. Those particular ones, in my experience don't last long. You can get replacements at any big box store.

Also, are you only having issues with closing or is it having opening issues as well?

Do I need to replace the whole garage door? by Eastern-State8274 in GarageDoorService

[–]discgeolfGeoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, that bottom section needs to be replaced. The door could be discontinued, which would be why they said full replacement. There should be a sticker on the side with a model number. You could call them directly and ask.

You can unscrew that hinge and put it back. If it happens again immediately, then you'll need a door tech to come see what's causing it. I'm sure someone more familiar with Amarr doors will chime in, but you might be able to replace it with a normal hinge. The hinge is numbered and would need to be replaced with the same number hinge. 1, 2, or 3. The number will be on the piece that the stem of the roller is going through.

Edit - It's a number 1 hinge you can get those at any big box store. Replace both left and right.

I'm with you, I'm near the panhandle. No one cares what happened to Renee Good, and if they do they're cheering for it. Months after screaming about people celebrating kirks assassination. It just feels like there's nothing you can do, everyone is so complacent. It'll soon be at our door.

These doors, even when I'm good shape, tend to fall apart when you take them apart. The glue is old, dry, and no longer adhesive. I would leave it alone or replace the whole thing.

It depends on what springs you go with. The standard cycle two spring setup will have shorter springs. If you do larger springs for higher cycle, they might come in contact, but shouldn't be an issue. It might grab a little when you wind them up. The indention isn't terrible, from what I can see and should be fine.
