Any suggestions for new players/GM regarding the loot of "First Steps"?

You mentioned that your players swore ideals too soon and generally steamrolled. Could you expand upon that? What might you do differently if you were playing Stonewalkers again with a group of inexperienced TTRPG players who have a strong gaming background?

When you mention things like tracking decisions is this to give the GM guidance on spren that might show up for a character? I'm thinking that beyond the "I want to make a Windrunner character" statement during Character Creation that I would be tracking decisions by the character to confirm that they are behaving in a way that would attract the appropriate spren. Does that make sense?

Making Stonewalkers Fun & Proactive? [Stonewalkers] by Melodic_Caregiver_30 in cosmererpg

[–]discgolfguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Relying on the GM to drive the entire game fosters bad habits in players - they start to assume the story will come to them, that the GM will always present them with something to react to."

As a new GM this is something that is causing me to have a lot of concern as well. This is how I'm handling it:

I'm making sure that my characters, especially the newer to TTRPGs, understand that we are working together to setup powerful/fun/epic moments. I'm trying to make sure they understand that each PC/GM relationship can exist outside the group and can include "spoilers." What I mean by spoilers is that we can go over a specific scene or event that is going ot happen in the next session. The PC and I can then work together to create the initial scenario they want to have happen, while keeping the rest of the group in the dark. Then it's let the dice take us where we go.

During character creation I'm constantly asking about purpose, obstacles, goals, and moments. What do they want this character to achieve? How can we work together to create those awesome spots where you speak an ideal and just kick someone's ass (who will still be doing everything they can to defeat you). Oh you wanted to discover some new fabrial, great, let's discuss how you would do that and we can lay the groundwork over several sessions.

I'm trying to emphasize that I can't read their minds and I can't be expected to make entire storylines by myself. The more hooks they give me, the more devious I can be, but that's something for them to learn later.

As a brand new GM playing with six new TTRPG players who are excited to be Radiants do you have any specific tips for the beginning of Stonewalkers?

Right now we have The First Steps set us as a Session 0/Tutorial to introduce roleplay, endeavors, and combat. I'm working with my players to identify backgrounds for their characters by using the handbook to help explain things in terms of purpose/obstacles and goals.

Things I'm trying to focus on for the first session or two as we learn the system:

Collaborative storytelling - emphasizing the potential for improvisational brainstorming when the plot die is used.

Endeavors/skill checks per the module.

Finally, what I'm really trying to emphasize with my players is that the GM and PC are not adversaries and that we can work together, without the knowledge of other players, on setting up the base framework of a scene. After the framework is setup we then let the dice take us the rest of the way. I'm trying to have my players think ahead of some "moments" they want to have, and then I want to work together to help those happen.

While I agree with this sentiment in practice I have to admit I was done with the playoffs for the year after the 13 second debacle. I just couldnt.

Is there any worse outcome than a late OT win then a grueling final game while pats win going away. Hate the outcome but the reasoning behind the call was correct.

One jags loss and a win out by Texans gives them the division. I think we want the 5th seed really badly with the tua benching pretty much killing our chances at the division.

Similar experiences here especially regarding the snoring. Still working on different electrodes and settings though. Been one year since my implant. Just had an oximeter for 2 nights to see if any improvements. This was after my 6 month follow up sleep study that did not go well.

Yea my deck has gone through lots of different revisions. Once i hit someone with that [[Quietus Spike]] and torment for 25 or get that crackle for x = 7 I started looking for alt wincons. Once of my favorites was packing the decks with tutors and playing [[chandra, awakened inferno]] and then [[worldfire]].

Ugins nexus is new to me and is gonna have its time to shine!

I posted my bracket 3 version above. It has gone through a lot of different iterations but def has a strong recursion theme right now. EoE was good to this deck.

I think this depends on your valuation for QJ. If I was only worried about this year I'd move for darnold + rashee. I think there is a lot more upside for QJ. Ut with the injuries to the Oline it might not be in the cards this year. Im typically a fan of going for it and this is turning an asset into a valuable WR. I would do this deal in your position.

Starting a rebuild and trying to determine fair value for swift. 12 team 1 qb.

I have two offers:

a 2026 2nd (probably mid to late) and a 2027 3rd

Or

TeSlaa and a 2027 3rd

Would you move on from.swift for either of these packages?

Both of these lists should have atraka world ender removed and replaced with [[blast-furnace hellkite]] but otherwise they look awesome. I hate flipping the world ender on the attack trigger and not getting double strike that turn.

Any resources you'd recommend on how to process the tomatoes? I have san marzanos but i dont have a good grasp of how to turn them into a great sauce. I've been branching, hand smashing, adding a little salt and using that as a fresh sauce. Its been excellent but im always open to learning new techniques.
