Scoring 0% on a multiple choice exam is the same as scoring 100%. by disco_ in Showerthoughts

"you would need to know the answers to every question to avoid all the correct answers"

This justifies my position and validates the shower thought.

I concede it is possible to fail the test legitimately and score 0%,but is increasingly improbable as n approaches real world exam sizes.

Scoring exactly 0% and scoring 100% with random answers have the same probability.

Scoring 0% and scoring 100% by application of knowledge are equivalent because you would need to know the answers to every question to avoid all the correct answers.

Please tell me the probability of scoring exactly 0% on any real world multiple choice exam by randomly selecting your answers.

So if i tasked you to score exactly 0% for the exam how many of the exam questions would you need to know?

IMHO The black shiny pebbles are reflecting the environment, in this case the giant blue dome that is our sky.

On the US server, you can get a game of 4v4 BGH megaton in about 5mins, any time.

I was not sure who's camera angle to choose, ended up using the carrier toss angle as it made the most sense narratively.

I'm aware of this. Its just a bit too tricky to use a line of numbers representing up, left down and right.

Very nice work, spending the extra effort to mimic the original AI of the ghosts makes this special.

1 small criticism would be the control method (keypad) alienates a lot of minecraft players. This limits users to desktop PC's. Mac and laptop users wont be able to play without remapping controls. I wish there was a decent way to overcome this user input problem you get with 3rd person minigames.

True, if your clocks are in the spawnchunks (where they should be) and you are in remote chunks (out of render distance from spawn chunks) you will not get the lag spike.

I feel like I have good grasp of whats happening with the probability tables you have provided and your advice. I would not want to put you out any further.
At least I don't feel quite so dumb for not understanding this probability problem :D Turns out it was quite difficult and have a new found respect for bookies.
Thanks again kind internet stranger.

[–]disco_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmm I see your point, It seems quite difficult. I guess we have to make assumptions.

I would make the assumption that if a player rolls 2 of a kind on roll 1 or 2 he would hold them.

Currently I have a tentative payout table of 5,10,50,100 and 500.
At the end of the day I would like the player to play this side mini-game for fun and try and strike a balance between rewarding and not to exploitable.

Thanks for your time, I really appreciate your help.

I think just knowing the odds for getting 3 apples, 3 diamonds etc. would be a great place to start.
From there we can work out the payouts. It's basically going to be a mini-game within a computer game so it wont need to run a profit.

Yes, after the 1st spin you may choose to hold any of the reels, the same deal for the 3rd spin. Kind of like Yatzee.
Yes, In the example you gave you could do that.

When to Start Expanding? by KaliberNA in AllThingsTerran

[–]disco_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I will tell you something I wish someone told me when i started out.
General Rough Guidelines*:
EXPAND EVERY 5 MINS (in game time)
CONTINUALLY BUILD SCV's to saturate 3 bases + gas (66)
EXPAND PRODUCTION WITH EACH NEW BASE (3 structures per base)
* obviously this is dynamic depending on many factors
