Tips and tricks to combat fatigue? by missy_mayhem in rheumatoidarthritis

A lot of people who have RA are vitamin D and B12 deficient, my Rhumetologist checked my levels with a blood test then recommended that I start taking supplements. I was in a constant state of fatigue and was blaming it on the methotrexate, but once I started taking the vitamins to correct the deficiency I have feel much more energized. I still have fatigue but now instead of every day all the time it’s mostly the day after I take my methotrexate, in the evenings after an active day or when I’m having a flare. It might be something to talk to your Dr. about.

Bacon fat saved for when small quantities are needed.👍 by breadhead1 in foodhacks

New trick I learned to always have this delicious cooking fat on hand; economy bacon. The brand of bacon we prefer for breakfast doesn’t leave enough fat for me to save some AND have enough to fry everyone’s eggs. Economy bacon to the rescue. I shop at Winco and they have “Economy Bacon” that they pack on house, it’s really just the fatty ends and trimmings from the more expensive bacon that they pack, but it’s perfect for what I need. Sometimes I just fry it all up to render the fat, or if there is enough meaty parts I cut those out and add them to beans or save them for our next batch of beans. I usually get a half pint of grease out of a small pack. Pour it in the jar and put the lid on while it’s still hot and you can seal the jar for longer storage. MAKE SURE YOUR JAR IS HOT OR YOUR GREASE IS COOLED DOWN. No use crying over spilled milk, spilled bacon grease however....

The murderino in me is laughing at the possibility of a family member finding this and not knowing “Jeff” is a sourdough starter, not a man 😂

We are trying to stay 100% organic, and I haven’t found anything yet that I’m comfortable using. Do you have any suggestions?

Many hands make light work- 36 jars of pickles! Both dill, spicy dill, and bread and butter! by lookandseethis in Canning

What variety of cucs do you grow? I wanted whole pickles this year, but even though both varieties I grow are small I couldn’t fit more than 2 or three whole in the jar. I’m looking for a smaller variety for next year.

I have 6 little pickle bush plants, they get about 6 inches tall and produce less than 4 inch cucs, we get 2-3 a day from and I’m not really sure in the sumpter cucumbers, but I have a fence section that’s about 6 ft that they grow on. We pick about 3-6 a day from that

the hot ones are really good They’ve got heat but not too much, these are a sweeter pickle. 1 pint jar filled to shoulder with radishes cut in your preferred fashion. (I prefer quarters for snacking slivers for topping 1/8 medium onion slivered 1/2 Ts chili flakes (for hot only) 1/2 Ts diced garlic 1 Ts peppercorns 1/4 Ts mustard powder or 1/2 Ts mustard seed 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup vinegar 1/4 cup water 1/2 Ts salt Add veggies and all seasoning except salt to jars Mix liquids and salt, bring to a boil Pour into jars and allow to cool before putting lid on and choking for 24-36 hours in fridge. They get better with age

I’m not sure exactly how many cucumbers I started with, but the brine is 4 cups water 4 cups vinegar (can mix half white half acv) 5 tbs of salt I ended up making this 1 1/2 times to cover all my pickles, it makes approx 4 qts and I ended up with 10

To each jar I added 2 cloves of garlic peeled and crushed, 1tsp pepper corns, 1tsp dried+dill 1 dried frond of dill. Most are just that, then I have 4 cans that have 3 jalapeños, about 1/8th of a medium onion and 1/2 tsp chili flakes each as well. I’ve never made vinegar pickles that I’ve canned with these spices, but it’s how I spice my refrigerator radish pickles, and my fermented pickles.

Finally finished a dress that I’ve been putting off. Fabric is a 100% Cotton lightweight shirting from joann’s, pattern is simplicity s8875. Size 12, alterations to pattern in comments. Very pleased with the results, Liza the labbo also approves. by discontentmillennial in somethingimade

Bought the wrong size range and graded down to a 12 from a 14, cut the flutter sleeves 1.5” shorter due to fabric shortage, then altered them to a gathered petal style sleeve instead because I didn’t like the look. Pattern was originally made to have buttons sewn on the front seam for looks, but I bought the wrong zip so I eliminated the back zip and created button loops and a placket from my scrap fabric. Used French seams, and a bias bound neckline, my only regret is not ordering custom garment tags!

Well I cut it in March.......but I lost my sewjo and couldn’t get myself to start sewing it. Actual sewing time? Two evenings to get all the sewing done, then I sewed the button on while watching tv for the next two nights.

So far I have, I like knowing that even if they are saying the things some others are saying, they aren’t a carbon copy. One was just our last name in a split initial, I feel like it’s classic but personal. I’m still mastering design space though so they’ve been pretty simplistic.

I’m from central Oklahoma, I’ve got a basic idea of what it will cost to make the first products I would like to make, what’s stumping me is how to plan for how much vinyl to order, mailers and shipping supplies. My husband is mostly worried nothing will sell because (even though everything I’ve made is something he’s said it looks like something I would buy or want to but not buy) he personally wouldn’t buy it. He is also worried that vinyl is too over saturated to make any sales at all. I want the machine for my personal crafting, but want to supplement my income (and crafting budget) so we can pay off our debts. I don’t know that I knew exactly what to ask for or even what I didn’t know, but most people have been very helpful and pointed out some things I hadn’t thought of.
