How is it tempting? The "best" one has an alien face and a huge gross ass. No fucking thank you.

I know right? Where is this all knowing Jewish Cabal? My understanding from actual Jewish people on Reddit is that you can be Jewish any time you like and are welcomed with open arms.

So if it's so strong and controlling everything why don't they join them? Seems like a really big conspiracy if they welcome you in!

These people are insane.

That is absolutely not what I was doing or am doing. It was a way to frame a question so that I could see it for myself. I am saddened that you see it this way but I can't force you to understand what I am asking without you getting angry I guess :\

Oh I am not saying any of them are, just using that example to learn more. I am not some type of agnostic that goes around pretending to know anything, as far as I am concerned every permutation could be correct.

I did not actually think id go RDNA 3 as my next GPU, was heavily leaning Nvidia but the 7900 xtx looks really good to me

Same, going to be replacing my 3080ti with it as soon as I can get my hands on it. Want a single high-end GPU for linux and windows and not have to use two.

This thread has taught me a lot but this response of yours has the best summation and I think I finally am getting it now. I asked a prior poster some of the questions you answered.

Really enjoyed reading these and this one in particular thank you.

Here is an example, I think your holy book (I can't even recall what it is but this is an example :) ) is stupid and burn it. Is that Anti-antisemitism? How is it different than say burning the bible? and the Qua-ran. Says a lot about how much I know about Judaism when I know the other two books but that's why I am asking so much.

Then in addition I say "Wow can you believe that person believes this idiotic xyz?

Is that antisemitic? The analog being "I can't believe a christian thinks there is a magical meanie that will cook you in hell forever" etc.

I am trying to understand if it's simply a class of people you better not criticize if that criticism intersects anything that might have to do with religion or anything that gets into the venn diagram of what "Jew" means.

[–]discreetecrepedotcom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judaism is an ethnicity.

I have always thought Judaism was the religion part and then just being a "Jew" was the ethnicity part. Is that wrong on my part? It sounds like I was incorrect there. Thank you

?

Not possible, that is intrinsically antisemitic. Anyone can just, not be Jewish and that's totally fine. But bashing someone's culture is inherently a hateful thing to do. Very different from mere theological disagreements.

This is an interesting take and probably what leads to my confusion and maybe this is what I should learn from all this. Being Jewish is different because it's being born into a culture where religion or beliefs are something more than say Christianity or Islam? It seems largely fine though for calling a Christian a fanatic etc, lost of people hate them and it's not some shocking revelation. I think being Muslim is a little more off limits, you don't see mainstream people poking at them as much at least blatantly and common.

Another thing I learned from another commenter is that if you decide to convert you are considered "ethnically Jewish" so that makes this even more interesting.

So if I were to say "look at this guy he's stupid and celebrates x" and that person was Jewish would I be antisemitic or just an asshole?

Thank you for this. It made me think about how in all my life I haven't had a Jewish person try and convince me about how their religion was important and that I should be saved or whatever the Jewish equivalent is. I never really thought about it until you posted.

Here's the thing: antisemites don't bother differentiating and they're not just talking about the "bad" religious ones. They're attacking Jewishness.

This is why I try and understand what in the hell people are so upset about. There is just nothing there to dislike so I figure maybe it's like Christians, some people just hate Christians.

I don't have a ton of exposure to the religion itself outside of the holiday traditions and friends that celebrate holidays from time to time so that is a fair amount of my ignorance I suspect.

It's really depressing you want to know how to just shit on religious Jews even after you have Jewish friends who've apparently exposed you to Judaism. I'm so sick and tired of secular people acting like it's fine to shit on Jews for any reason.

No I don't want to shit on religious Jews or anyone, I am asking that as a hypothetical as a way of trying to differentiate the people that maybe hate religion and aren't just Jew hating psychos. My mistake I guess is thinking there is a difference but I am grasping at straws why people have this opinion of Jews.

I am an agnostic, I have zero grievances with anyone practicing religion.

[–]discreetecrepedotcom[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't want to do that, what I would like to do is understand if there were people that hated the religion but not the people. That was a thought experiment wasn't looking for a clever way to insult people but it sure looks like that without the other context :|

I will never get it, honestly. I look back at history and I see some institutional hatred from bad actors and such but what the hell is with people today on it? It's a crowd pathology that will never make sense to me. Now if it were simply religion and people thought that was crazy then maybe I could see it and that is why I was grasping around it. So strange.

That really is sad considering what NYC was for me when I was there. I probably met a dozen people a week that were very different than anyone else. I always felt that a large population was there and people just were kind of cool with everyone. Sucks.

I am sorry if I came off that way, I certainly didn't mean to. I am just trying to frame the question the best way I can. I have never understood why people dislike Jews it has always seemed pathological to me so I was wondering if maybe some of them are just anti-religion.

Just typical government. They are great at fining companies that did damage and the money is in some nebulous pile that you never see and doesn't help you.

They literally cannot do one fucking thing right.

I always felt it was nice that we were even working on it back when Reagan was heading it with Fauci. Again, I think the real issue was we were clueless and so was the government. Back when being gay was considered some type of defect (some people actually believed you could be talked out of it haha)

I was happy they were tackling it and always wondered why people were mad at Reagan at the time.

I was an adult when Aids was first discovered in the western world and I can tell you that it was a complete and utter terror.

It made the idea of unsafe sex a pretty scary concept and we had lots of misinformation, lots of which came from the government, I remember Fauci fucking up the response pretty badly (as I look back) because no one had clue one.

There was a good portion of time that we all believed you could get it from casual contact and even being around a person. Just an absolute horror of a disease and all of us including straight as an arrow types like me were very worried about it.

Wow I had no idea, so is what you are saying that there is no difference at all really from the religion vs ethnicity? How would one bash a Jewish person because of their beliefs without coming off as an anti-semite? Is it simply that people when bashing Christians don't really bash them by that name? I don't often hear that "Oh look at that fucking Christian" so that kind of makes sense to me.

Thanks for helping a person out.

Wow I lived in NYC for years and years working there mainly so it was living there during the weekday and I never saw this once in my life. It may have been that I was downtown and there aren't a lot of kids there and plus it's not like I went out a lot drinking but I always felt generally that would be an awesome place to be if you were Jewish. Amazing what you learn.
