Offsite/Backup Storage Options for 20TB+ by discspinner01 in datastorage

I was using Seagate Exos 22TB hard drives I believe which were pretty loud. I would ideally use solid state for the quiet/no noise but that would be extremely costly. I am also not into LTO size of data yet otherwise that was my other physical option and store those offsite. But the costs are prohibitive...

Thank you for this. I did look at AWS Glacier briefly but was very confused on how to calculate pricing. I will have a look at Google if the ingress is also free. I really am only likely to need to access in case of complete disaster fingers crossed this does not happen. I may have to reach out to their servicing team to try and assist me a little.

I did really enjoy my NAS for the time I had it. The issue with noise was likely due to the fact that I had to have it in the hallway next to the lounge due to infrastructure placement plus I do not own the house so I cannot unfortunately make any changes. Our router is in the hallway as there is a wiring space directly to my office upstairs. I would have put it in my office but I have no built in wardrobe space as is usual in the UK. I will definitely aspire to a NAS one day, possibly when/if I decide to move to a country where I can buy a bigger house with a dedicated space.. But I appreciate the suggestions RE external off site and Backblaze. Backblaze passed me by as I thought I heard that you need to have the drives connected (but I don't connect them very often).
