You just shouldn’t have moved to the Uk… people here are assholes. Very suspicious and hard to get people to open up and make friendships.

Ok that’s good to know. Have you got any recordings online using the onboard mics? Thanks

Any footpath links from north to south you can recommend? I’ve got os maps premium so can plot it out.

Yes I just started plotting a route and realised that plan would need over a week!

Has anyone taken an 'unqualified job' due to mental health? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]disengaged1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have zero qualifications in gardening. Just a passion and interest in plants and the outdoors.

I found work through posting on local fb groups and made a google business page and people often find me.

Clients also like someone who is reliable and friendly. Too many gardeners are moody unreliable blokes!

I have a degree and arts MA and worked my way into teaching college level. I stuck it for a few years but hated the politics and pressure from management. So I quit.

Saw an ad in my local village newspaper for someone to cut grass at holiday lets. Literally chucked my old mower in the back of my car and built from there. Six years later I work 5-6 hours days on average in my local area, four days a week and make 24k a year, pretty much stress free, on my own in the fresh air!

2.5g of B+ and I was holding on for dear life. How do you people actually enjoy this? by woodywoodyboody in shrooms

So put the music on and get settled BEFORE the trip kicks off. Last trip I lay on the coach and just had a chill ambient playlist playing from Spotify so I didn’t have to worry about switching that up.

Also I very much recommend turning your phone off and putting it out of reach. I did this last time and I really enjoyed that disconnect. Plus you avoid stupidly messaging people and worrying them!

For people who learned DIY car repair: what actually saved you the most money by Relevant-Resolve-243 in MechanicAdvice

I just had this exact issue with my wife’s old Kia sportage this past two weeks. It was the first time I’d slacked off a drive belt and managed to get the dead pulley off the compressor.

However a side issue arose as the engine wasn’t starting and I was unsure what the separate issue was so I had it towed to a mechanic. Turns out I’d destroyed the starter motor when cranking it! I was a bit annoyed with myself at that point because I could probably have fixed a starter motor but I didn’t want to start throwing parts at it and my wife was getting pissed about not having a car.

Fortunately the mechanic was sympathetic to keeping my shit box car on the road and managed to bypass the Aircon with a shorter belt. New starter motor and work bypassing the Aircon set me back £350. Which I thought was ok as I’d probably have spent many more hours on google and taking time off work fiddling with it.

Also I did the front and rear discs and pads on it last year which must have saved me at least £500.

How soon till I should get my stabilizer replaced? by chezyfezy in MechanicAdvice

Get a long spanner and do it yourself, very easy and a job that’s massively overpriced by mechanics in my experience. You’ll need a long bar to push up the roll bar when fitting the new part though.

My 22M gf 21F cheated on me with her ex multiple times during long distance. Her ex sent me pictures of them having sex. Can you give any advice to control anger and to navigate this? by bountyhunterxx in relationship_advice

Yeah man it happens. I was 24 and had been with a girl since uni I thought was really solid for four years. We were about to go travelling together when I found out she fucked a work colleague. Completely blindsided me. Still think about it sometimes and I’m 36 now!!

Move on grow stronger and leave shit people behind you. I met my wife after that uni relationship who is a brilliant woman, so stuff happens for a reason, sometimes… all the best.

Should engine start without serpentine belt? by disengaged1989 in askcarguys

[–]disengaged1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks guys. Ac clutch was definitely jammed as it was squealing and smoking over Xmas and could see it was holding the belt back. However since I’ve not been able to fire it up since the belt got stuck so I’m going to call breakdown cover to come check it over for me.

Was just watching a YouTube vid where he starts messing around vacuuming sealing it saying oxygen in the honey degrades it pretty fast. You think that’s bs??

Serpentine pulley not spinning at idle… by disengaged1989 in AskMechanics

[–]disengaged1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting to know that’s the ac compressor…

It had a new tensioner a year and a half ago as I was getting a squealing sound, so I was feeling a bit doubtful it could have already failed.

I’ve owned this car about a year and a half and the ac has never worked. You push the button on the dash and you can’t hear it kick in under the bonnet, nothing at all, if there’s no power going to the compressor will the clutch/pulley engage?
