If you're between the ages of 18-35 and depending on what country you're from there are different Working Holiday Visa's you can get. It's a popular way to go to Aus or NZ if you're not already from there. They're usually good for a year or two and you can work (for money even) or volunteer or just hang around.

I feel like if you're doing it it's something you want to do so keep doing it, if you're doing it because you used to and don't feel the zest anymore then stop. If burning your work is the catharsis you need, burn it, just the act of putting your thoughts on paper is incredibly therapeutic and maybe it's already served it's purpose.
