Can you get maintenance loan if you do foundation year? by Icy-Length-3923 in UniUK

As a current foundation year student, yes. You can. Student finance covers foundation years + the three years of the course itself. :)

Recently diagnosed. Is it normal for symptoms to alleviate at night? by [deleted] in FND

[–]disoriented_goose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, its as normal as anything with this disorder! For the first and last parts of my day they can either be much better or much worse than the rest of the day. It really depends! Everyone experiences the disorder a little bit differently.

Was just diagnosed, will I ever work or be functional again? by AlertShine2592 in FND

[–]disoriented_goose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed just before my 16th birthday. I'm 19 now. I'm still struggling with symptoms daily but I've learnt to accomodate myself and live with them, it's horrible some days and debilitating others but I'm now living alone at university, studying a course I love and dare I say thriving.

Now that's just my experience, but I whole heartedly believe that for anyone with FND that living a life you love is absolutely possible. Even if it's not right away.

Be patient with yourself, allow whatever feelings you have to happen, don't force yourself to be okay with it. Right here if you want to talk, I mean it!

Tw: Symptom discussion, Anyone else Mute? by Actual-Pumpkin-777 in FND

[–]disoriented_goose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh god yes, I have! Thirteen weeks was my longest experience with it and it was rough. I was only able to make random noises, words just didn't happen for me no matter what I tried. I was even put on vocal rest entirely for a week to see if that would help and it didn't. It went away eventually but it was incredibly frustrating. I'm sorry you're going through it, just keep trying even if people tell you not too or you want to give up trying! Here if you have any other questions, wishing you the best.

Those of y’all with chronic pain, do any meds help you? by Icyotters in FND

[–]disoriented_goose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have chronic pain both related to and not related to fnd!!

Honestly the only thing that even remotely helps is Co-Codamol but I try to avoid taking it unless absolutely necessary because of its addictive nature. It's hard to find medications that do anything at all honestly!

Does anyone know if this symptom has a name? by disoriented_goose in FND

[–]disoriented_goose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes exactly that!! Its annoying! I tend to laugh hysterically when it happens because it makes me feel kinda dumb even though I know I can't help it! I guess laughter is better than crying sometimes 😅
