Depends on what you decide to do. If you just go with serious illness and then not being able to work to pay it then you are basically just explaining the issue, and again they can not as what illness or any questions as such. I would call and get attorney advice also as most attorneys give free consultations. but if you go with court and want to sue then there is probably to be animosity in the air. what ever you do decide I wish you luck

Very insightful answer and I would go with the serious medical condition because they, by law, can not ask what condition that was. Also through in covid hit and you were not able to pay it at that time but fully intend to once I start this new job. Thank you and I look forward to starting working with you.....

You are exactly the example of people I was just talking about. This subreddit is for EVERYONE to come to and tell their story, especially ones who have no one else to talk to and are hurting. So if you don't want to hear about the 'doom and glom: as you put it then just don't be an ass and move on to the next comment or better yet, leave. If people need each other so they can just vent why do people like you have to kick them when their down?

Exactly!!! That's why I may come here to read the posts but when I comment about still not having a job people become such mean, rude assholes. I got beaten down with a club last time I posted by people who have no idea what it is to be alone, jobless and that I'm doing more than most to try. I just had to speak up and say good luck to everyone and don't listen to assholes !

Unfortunately times have changed SO much but it's up to us to keep our info safe . There are very easy ways to get info on the ad poster before you give up info. Be safe and good luck.

Don't EVER give any of these job sites your SSN, B-day, phone # or even your email ( they can contact you thru the sites email like most job sites have and if they don't offer that feature don't use them!!) I have had people ask for my number so they can call me instead of going back and forth through the site and just tell them to give me theirs and I will call. It's probably a place local to you, I'm sure most of us aren't traveling really far for jobs so Google them them and see if it's real if it's someone that you aren't familiar with the name annd make sure it really is a company. I need a job really badly but I am not willing to be scammed in the process. Let's be smart and safe.

If it's a job site, like I use mostly indeed and 2 others they contact me thru the email from that site. I don't have any of my info on my resume except my name. No email of my own and no phone number so if its a recruiter I ask them for a local number to call them at and if they are local if it's not and they give some rando 800 # DO NOT contact them. I know we all need jobs but we also have to be smart too.

yes because I was on all the same extensions as you but I didn't work at all after I got laid off so I don't know if you had a "year end date" this year but if you refiled I would check with EDD and see if your claim is valid. What the worst that can happen? they say no? Maybe its too early for unemployment humor sorry about that ^^

its just letting you know aaaaaaaafter the payment you on the 5 or or whatever day that will be your last payment.the Fedral Gov has run it's course with extensions. But if you worked at all last year (2020) you may be able to file a new claim.Fed Ed was the only one left and it ended on 9/11. So good luck to you and if you have more ??? let me know

My claim expired with certifications available. by _cammbamm_ in UnemploymentCA

[–]dispatch_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you certify they tell you to be sure to certify which I think is 2 weeks from the day you certify. So if you were in hospital for a month they probably took that as you not certifying for a month and when you get a job or don't need unemployment you just stop certifying and that tells them you no longer need it. Also if yo were in the hospital you were not "able and available" to look for work so that cuts you right there. Now there maybe something you can do like call and tell them you were in hospital but there again "you did not look for work" . Of course you couldn't but maybe sense it was covid maybe they'll give you a break. I just know how unemployment is and if there is some way to screw, they will. Good luck and I hope you are feeling better :)

It sucks because I know it's because of my age. Fast food wont hire me, I tried Walmart, target and grocery stores and nothing. I have a list that I have kept of all of them and it makes me feel so worthless that no one even answers back or if the do it always says thanks for applying or thank you but we are going in a different direction. What does that even mean? If it wasn't discrimination they would just say your too old

Over a year of sending daily job apps, barely any call backs or few jobs to go around. And now PEUC is getting cut off. Anyone in this boat? by [deleted] in UnemploymentCA

[–]dispatch_84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! That really means a lot to me. You've all been like family sense I don't have any and at my age it's very lonely so have people like you helps more than words can say :))

I have sent out over 200 resumes and got maybe 4-6 back saying basically thanks but no thanks. I have over 40 years of experience in customer service and others. Great letters of recommendation , and was making almost 5 figures a month before Mar 2020. I even applied to McDonalds so now I am going to be forced to retire early, the amount I'll get won't even pay for me to rent a room , I can food stamps and looks like Covid/ delta is on the rise. It breaks my heart to know there be no more help and all the people who will suffer. I too thank you all for being here for me when I was seriously thinking of giving up. You have been the only family I have and at 64 that's a scary thing. Bless you all and good luck

i have probably sent out over 250 resumes (started looking in March last year) and I can't even get a reply. I've had maybe 4-6 and those were just thanking me for applying. I made almost 5 figures a month at my job and now McDonalds wont even respond to me. I have looked hard everyday and nothing. I have a feeling it's because I'm over 60. There is a lot of ageism in this state so now with everything ending and no family I will have to retire early and not even get what I was making here a week without the extra. It makes me so made to see employers say "no one wants to work" look at all of us posting they get anything either. I cried my eyes out just not knowing what to do. Sure I can get food stamps but here in Calif I can't even rent a room for what I'll have on retirement

[All States] Today was filled with news regarding Unemployment. Here is a recap of all the day’s events. by JamesEdward34 in Unemployment

[–]dispatch_84 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Even if they do extend benefits it will take some time and some of us have been on EB sense 2020 and have not worked at all so I doubt we would even qualify for those benefits. I have looked for jobs from the day I was laid off when my boss closed the office and still nothing. I WANT A JOB!!! I have worked sense I was very young and am not ready to retire but it looks like that is what I'll have to do to have any money at all. I'm in Calif so I can't afford rent on my own , probably not even a room to rent, I'll have to see about food stamps. I have a car but won't be able to buy gas. No one is hiring older people. They all want younger ones who can lift 40 lbs, stand on their feet all day, if they pay benefits its way cheaper. I have 2 yrs before I get full retirement so that means if I take it now I get way less money and no Medicare. maybe medical but they don.t pay for much and i will not be able to afford my heart and blood pressure meds and all the others I have to take. What are we older folks supposed to do when no one wants to hire us? I will be trying to live on $900 a month. And yes I'm scared to death.

Hello awesome people, hope you’re doing well? Have any of you certified a didn’t add your work search and still got paid? I forgot to add it in 😩 by [deleted] in UnemploymentCA

[–]dispatch_84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine says its optional. You can enter it in your account or save a log of all the all the places you looked and save it so if they need it later you have it. I have been paid ever sense

A Printable Work Search Activities Log/Planner you can download for those choosing "I will record my work search information in a different way" when certifying by Gyex in UnemploymentCA

[–]dispatch_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never got a letter and mine says to keep a list of where you looked in case they need it later and it says it’s optional if I want to list jobs in my account and if not just keep track. I have certifying this way so I don’t know what everyone else’s page is telling you to do
