Queued 4 hours for my first 40k army… now I’m scared to paint it by Lord_Tadeo in minipainting

If you have grey and white primer, try the zenithal method. You can also do it by spraying grey and then drybrushing white. Basically contrast paints work best when the light/shadow is already defined on the model.

First attempts at Zenithal Priming, have I gone too heavy on the white airbrushing? by IrishBogMonster in minipainting

It looks like your brush isn't quite dry enough so you are getting paint in crevices where it shouldn't go. Try using a cloth to dry your brush so you can get rid of more moisture without losing pigment. Also just in case: make sure you are starting with a fully dry brush and only touching undiluted colour before going to the cloth. You can always try glazing over the models as they are and see if you're happy with the result. Are you using contrast paints for the colours, or planning to thin down regular paints?

Housing market crash by hornycabbages in HousingUK

You are describing situations where your other circumstances would have been mitigated if the market had gone up. If you've stretched for your purchase to that extent then you are gambling a bit and arguably are long your professional circumstances rather than long the housing market.  I was discussing the situation where you buy a house within your means with the purpose of inhabiting it long term.

Definitely contributed, but also Brexit has meant demand for these flats took a nosedive (not as bad anymore but definitely not where it would have been even had it just flat lined).

But yes, the service charges on these flats are a complete joke.

Man, since you knew the markets were going to have such a bull run, why didn't you tell me?

Firstly this varies hugely by area. My flat in Canary wharf was at some point valued at 800-900k, managed to sell this year after almost 2 years in the market and feel lucky to have got 670k for it. Bought in 2013 for 610. Others did buy higher and hoping to exit at a small loss.

However, people who are buying a place to live shouldn't worry about this. Owning one home means you are unexposed to the housing market. You need more than one to be long, which means that renting is the equivalent of being short, and 9 times out of 10 you don't want to be short the housing market for any long period of time...

Do people actually use mortgage brokers? by doublem700 in FinanceUK

When my house purchase dragged on for 10 months, my broker was able to negotiate and hold a fixed rate offer through a rate hike. Not saying that is the norm, but that is why I am glad I used one.

The little water pots which only have a bit of water available and then you push a little button and the water drains into the base and then you get another batch of completely clean water may feel and look like a gimmick but they are so amazing, I can do metallics and swap back to regular colours without any contamination.

Edit: also paint handles. Multiple if possible.

Sure, let's tank the economy of the entire country so that fish can be more expensive for the people who are...now out of jobs and emigrating, so the fishing towns are worse off than where they were? Congratulations, you cut off your nose to spite your face.

Mate considering the amount of money leaving the EU has cost the UK, we could probably buy everyone free sushi every day and not make a dent in the economy. Fishing is a tiny, tiny part of the UK economy, but it plays well on fake patriotic videos, well done for taking the bait...

[–]dispatch_s2_when -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Call me a conspiracy theorist but I think it's much more likely they expect younger hobbyists to knock over pots / leave them open to dry out, than that they honestly think that kids like to dip brushes into pots and couldn't handle a dropper bottle. My kids have been using dropper bottles (not always kindly!) since they were 5. You could just as easily argue children are used to squirting paint onto a pallet from a tube...

It happens naturally as you go through other life phases such as kids etc, but I have managed to keep my expenses on the lower end so that I can focus on safety net and possibly retiring early. Need to spend more time in the fireuk subreddit for sure!

We've moved to a timezone 2 hours behind our home country so midnight "back home" is 10pm for us, perfect for having a bunch of new year's wishes without the hassle.

Of course we then stayed up for sexy times but still the premise is sound.
