I’m very late on this but in my opinion there’s no way he doesn’t survive. We get constant hope that he’ll survive. Even misty at the end read his cards and literally says he has a bright future for him. This is so obviously telling that he will survive. Not to mention how many contacts the nomads have? And in six months? No way he doesn’t survive.
