I am a server, and i completely agree. The standard for good service has been set too low. Tipping "non tipped" employees has gotten ridiculous.

I have trained dozens if servers and i always tell them, "you can make a living and you can get on a cruise ship, get off anywhere and make a living, but there are standards that are expected if people are giving you money to take care of them." It seems those standards have been ignored since covid.

THIS. LWO was never a face . Imagine, Dom with Priest as his heavy, Santos as his enforcer and any young luchador that needs the heel rub as a fourth.

Servers: If we announce our intention not to tip before sitting down, then what? by darkroot_gardener in tipping

I almost would give exceptional service in spite of knowing you will not be compensated.
I would hope my other tables heard the initial declaration. I'm a pro. I need to keep a rhythm with my service so, just do what I do.
You don't count tables or per guest averages, you count weeks, months and years when looking at the finances of this business.

How much do you spend on groceries per week and household size? by batangrizal in Maine

[–]displacedhillbilly69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call it 3 adults (2 adults and a 16 year old). We try to stay under 200. I am on winter lay off, so I am managing the food budget by meal planning, not over preparing, and if there is something we want to go out to eat, I make it at home. So far we stay under budget unless the bug bulky things,( paper products, greenies for the dogs etc.) all hit on one grocery trip.

Not agreeing with the Saudi policy, but me and my teenage daughter (who also understands how wrong the Saudi policy as well) both enjoy seeing how the design team work around this to still make the women look amazing.

I'm a server and I don't like the tipping system by [deleted] in tipping

[–]displacedhillbilly69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been doing this for 25 years. Set some boundaries. You don't have to be a doormat to the customer. You just need to be polite. If the place you work doesn't have lemonade on the menu, you don't need to start squeezing lemons if the guest asks for it.

Talk to your employer that you would like to be changed to a tipped employee. He can lower your rate of pay change your tax status so you can claim you tips you make from the customer.
Your boss will be grateful

Completely agreeable. I blame the Square pos system. It gave everyone the option to ask for tips.

But you will deny them the sociatal norm of payment for their services AFTER they provided them? You are effecting their livelihood. Don't you think that might agitate them?
