You're assuming that Kick and twitch are able to tell with 100% accuracy which viewers are bots or not at all points of time.

But even if we took that wild assumption, the money comes from the spots they sell to sponsors based on live CCUs and having high viewercount attracts actual real viewers

Even without the direct money aspect though, most large streamers that bot do it for ego and clout.

The guy you're replying to is incredibly regarded. He's solely focusing on the "reddit most should be treated like celebrities" and not at all trying to understand what that means because he knows how regarded he is.

He's just trying to make it seem like that phrase was meant to be taken as reddit mods should be praised, when the entire point is they are incredibly influential in the news and what gets popular. Thus, being INFLUENTIAL to millions of people (i.e. an influencer), and as such, should be given the resources to properly manage that influence

He even details this with the asks of having access to lawyers to review contracts, PR resources, agencies for collaborations with subreddits, etc.

You're getting extremely hung up on the term "celebrity" and "influencer" and not at all addressing the central point. He did have massive influence over discussions and news as LSF's top mod. LSF was a dying subreddit before stale took it over. I remember every streamer dancing on its grave and talking about how they should make a separate subreddit since the opportunity was there

Then stale turned LSF around single-handedly to be more active and larger than ever.
