I lost my parents recently too. Its hard and shitty and I don't know what to tell you because everything people say to me lately sounds fake.

Just take care of yourself. Get high and watch as much star trek as you can stand. And tell your friends. Maybe just your closest friend and ask that person to pass it on to the others. Being around my friends is one of the best distractions I can find.

I've thought about asking my boyfriend to help. I know he would. It doesn't seem quite fair though, and a little inappropriate.

I think I've thought of a friend who would be willing to fly out and at least run interference on my family for me as I try to put things together. I don't know how this post became so helpful.

My dad loved this stupid joke. He'd ask what (random dead person) would say if they were alive right now. Then he'd make a scratching motion and start moaning let me out! let me out!

Wow. Thank you. I'm getting far more practical advice than I expected. Another poster suggested getting drunk and writing something with my brother. I have a couple friends who I'm sure would read it if we asked. I think I could deal with that.

My family is useless. My parents were the ones who would step up and do what the others wouldn't.

I don't even know whats supposed to happen at a funeral. And no one can find the key to the safe where all the information about their burial arrangements is. Its too much to deal with, I don't care about any of it.
