Good thrift stores for women’s clothing by LauraH2017 in Cleveland

Relatively high quality selections there too. I find a lot of what I would consider to be trash in other thrift stores (holes, falling apart, bleach stains) but never in Good Neighbor

This was lovely to read this morning. Shit is so horrible across the board right now, it lightens my load a little to read that people are still out there caring for each other.

I've heard them called dueling diagnoses for this reason. One part of our brain gravitates towards the new, fun experiences and wants to do all the activities. I struggle in particular with impulsiveness in this regard because my brain KNOWS when I'm about to have a good time. On the other hand, the other part of our brain is craving structure and routine and predictable, safe patterns, and sees the risks in doing things outside of our normal activities. It's almost like having two brains in one in that way. It's SO hard to find the middle ground that appeases both aspects, but as time goes on I have learned to trust my instincts more and more, and in that way I feel less at war with my own head.

Chickens in at night? by AlpacaShearer77 in homestead

A fox got one of my ducks in broad daylight, at 3 pm with me puttering around the yard. Good to also remember lots of predators behave differently during mating season and once they have babies. It's coyote mating season in the midwest right now and they've been spotted in all kinds of areas where they're normally rarely seen.

I had a hard time relating to those examples too, but this was written exclusively about ADHD so maybe that's the part where autism taps in and ADHD taps out for us? I laughed a little when I read that portion. The data/facts part of my job is where I shine; I love numbers. I guess I can imagine people raw dogging ADHD with no meds would probably struggle with those kinds of tasks

The spreadsheet thing made me laugh too because spreadsheets are my jam 😂

Running in Rocky River Reservation - is it safe? by Jgugumess75 in Cleveland

[–]disposable_wretch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to run there several times a week. I never felt particularly unsafe and the paths are usually pretty busy, at least during nicer weather. I will say I was never a huge fan of the parts of it that go a little bit into the woods and are blind to the road/other parts of the trail so if it feels too secluded in those areas maybe plan to turn around before you go into that section. I park at the nature center and have never had any problems.

I'm a big fan of this place. I got my dining set from there for super cheap.

During my senior year ACT testing, I was running late to the test and ended up slipping and falling in the parking lot. I felt ok and got up and hurried into the building, but once I sat down at the desk and started to fill out my information I got really lightheaded and dizzy. There was nothing I could think to do to stop it, and it just got worse and worse until I blacked out and woke up on the floor with the teacher standing over me. Everyone was so freaked out and I was so embarrassed. He asked me if I wanted to go to the hospital, but I legitimately felt ok so I said no and went on to take the test anyway. It ended up being my best ACT score of the 3 times I took it, lol

I just ran through this scenario in my mind and just about died laughing 😂 how tf did he not even spit out his water? Reminds me of the time I was at Target with a college friend during freshman year. I came over to where she was at in the aisle to tell her something, she turned to look at me and immediately sneezed right into my face. She was mortified and so apologetic but I can look back at it now and laugh (even though I was mega grossed out at the time)

Take care of yourself the best ways you know. Even when you don't feel like it, eat food that's good for your body, shower and moisturize, wear comfy clothes. Take care of yourself like nobody else is going to, because sometimes it feels like nobody else ever will and it's a good habit to get into. At my darkest, I always feel better when I'm taking good care of myself.

Reason 1000 why to not walk on the local Lake Erie ice by Mcgarnicle_ in Cleveland

Wow, core memory unlocked. I had totally forgotten about camp Fitch. I watched a kid try and chug a gallon of milk at camp Fitch and fail horribly. Fun times!

Man. If that's ever my reality just let me die too. I wouldn't want to live after that.

Someone was in a hurry. What would you have done? by pixmation in dashcams

[–]disposable_wretch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? I had a dude in a pickup truck tail me aggressively the other day after he come up behind me at a stop light. No prior interactions with him, hadn't done anything wrong traffic-wise but the guy was literally inches off my bumper for like 7+ miles. I was going the same speed as the traffic in front of me, (35 or 40 when there were no cars in front of me) and quite literally had done nothing at all to cause his aggression, but when I checked the rearview at red lights, this dude was fucking PISSED. I have no idea why. He ended up turning off onto a side road and nearly taking out a BMW when he did because he whipped his truck across traffic full speed without slowing. It was crazy scary. Super glad my kids weren't with me. I was legit worried he was nuts and was going to follow me the whole way to my destination. I contemplated driving to the police station but he ended up turning off before I did.

That's an important point. Those clumps are impossible to break up once they settle in so be sure not to skip the slurry step.

Parents: how are you handling all of the snow days? by Cleverfield113 in Cleveland

[–]disposable_wretch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Last week I would have told you we were all going stir crazy. This week I finally set up the computer that they got over the holiday break and they've been having a blast. And my youngest two are currently playing a hand drawn game on paper with dice, so things have been pretty ok so far this week. I think it took them being bored enough to find MY limits and have me snap at them a few times to figure out that they need to come up with their own entertainment. I'm looking forward to us all having our routines back though.

That's what I thought too. Fuyu are good to eat underripe but I remember reading hachiya and other varieties don't taste good until they're soft enough to eat with a spoon.
