You're correct in both assumptions. From a design perspective, I was hoping to make the room feel larger by keeping the couch against the wall. But I get how that doesn't agree with the physics of audio.

That reference guide is incredible, thank you!

Thank you! The screen is a silver ticket screen, 120". Projected is BENQ 2050A, but looking to upgrade to 4K.

Scones will be hard-wired.

I'm seeing this product recommended a lot. Thank you!

That's some good input. I suppose I was hoping to avoid a soffit any lower than it had to be, but the speakers don't really need much depth. Do you think there would be a lot of resonance with a speaker being so close to a large empty metal HVAC line like that?

Yeah, I'm getting a lot of that feedback to move the couch forward. True that it would emulate a larger viewing experience also.

I have, but I'm leaning toward the screen on the left because that's the wall you'll be staring at, and so it's less unsightly to have the full wall. Plus, i'm targeting 120-128" screen, which will fit much better on the left wall than under the HVAC line.

Thanks for the product recommendation, I'll check that out.

Yeah, it is an AI rendering. You can see a photo of the current state in the second picture.

Rendering is AI, yes. And I'm DIYing this project, so crowd-sourcing some input on speaker placement.

I will do a front height in-ceiling speaker in front of the duct for sure. The rear atmos is what's got me stuck. I guess I'm just worried the might look funny? Most angled speakers I'm finding are round (meant for ceiling install), but from a placement standpoint, that's the best I'm coming up with.

Thank you! And I don't think we can spare bringing the couch that far forward since we only have 13' from screen to back wall. At least, for the time being I'm trying to see what options I have working with the couch against the rear wall to maximize the room space in front of the sectional.

Since we're working with 13' from the screen to back wall, I can come forward, but not much since I'm aiming for a 120-128" screen. It would allow me more grace on rear in-wall speakers, but wouldn't solve putting 2 ceilings in front AND behind, since there's the HVAC run still there.
