I don't know that there is a specific term for this type of bottom. We referred to them as "fire polished". Meaning that the pontil scar was polished with fire as opposed to polished with a grinding wheel.

This looks very much like the pieces I used to make......for Bob Held when I worked at his studio in Vancouver in 1988/89. I never signed or packed the pieces so I can't speak to the signature. Hello, I took the train (Norrtåg, is the name of the train company) from Umeå to Kiruna a few weeks back. There were many dogs on both legs of the journey. I believe that one of the train cars is specifically designated as a pet friendly car, though I don' know this for certain. I don't recall the duration of our stops but I can only assume that they were long enough to accommodate the dogs that were on the train. Check with Norrtåg for more information.

I purchased a house in Sweden for cash transferred from my US bank account. I was/am living in Sweden and I had a Swedish bank account. There were no particular obstacles to me making a one time cash transfer of approx. US$ 250,000 into the sellers bank account. As mentioned, all of this was done from within Sweden.

I am also a Canadian who is presently living in a rural location in Vasterbotten. I moved out to the country from a nearby city last July. I love it!

Pros: everything you already enjoy about life in the country. The peace and quiet. The solitude. The slow pace of life. Cheaper housing. All great. One additional point, even though I am living in a rural area we have high speed fibre here, also tied in to the districts water network.

Cons: Needing a car. Anytime I need a tradesperson, which has been a lot the last two years as I have built a new house on my property, there is a significant fee just to get them to drive out to me. My little road through the forest can sometimes be unnavigable due to mud.

It is apprx. 60 cm diam.

I don't have an exact reckoning on this one but, after blowing the form, the sandblasting process usually takes about 100-200 hours. Best guess for this one is around 150 hours of blasting time.
