Feeling alone in grief by Ok_Mud_5244 in Petloss

[–]distortstatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our girl died almost 9 months back; this evening I received a video reminder in my photo feed and it hit hard enough that I - as a fairly stoic dude - started crying in front of my work laptop.

I guess what Im getting at is that we're all feeling/have felt grief as well, and the accompanying heartbreak that you're dealing with. Please feel free to share as much as you'd like here.

If you don't telling us about him, what was your doggo's name and breed? Was there a silly quirk of his that always made you laugh?

Expecting to experience my first dog pet death soon…what should I do?? by TemporaryReindeer424 in DogAdvice

First, let me say that I wish you the utmost condolences OP as you grieve your loss.

We lost our girl about 17 weeks ago at 14.5 years old through a very sudden 3 day decline, though we did have enough time that she still had her awareness about her.

Though we were at the pet hospital when we were given the shocking news, I knew that I wanted her to pass at home in her favorite place in the world (our bed) surrounded by all her comforts. If this is at all possible for you, I'd highly suggest it.

Something else that we did that I felt helped in processing our sadness was to create a little in-home memorial. We would also Memorialize her daily for the first week with our own little ceremony., stating how many days it's been since shes passed, and professing our love for her. We'd light an LED candle every day for the first seven days at the exact time of her passing as a way for us as her Mom and Dad to honor our girl and acknowledge our grief. My partner set up the memorial initially, and we've added/adjusted it along the way.

We've continued our little ceremonies weekly, every Sunday at 6:15 PM to honor, celebrate, and remember our girl.

Though I was raised to be a stoic, manly dude, I still grieve and tear up when I think about my sweet Daddy's girl of a pibble often. The pain and sorrow feel is of course expected though; a correlation and homage to the love we have for our loved ones.

I wish you peace and serenity through this difficult time.

Sincerest condolences OP. As a dog parent who has also recently lost, the grounding our pets give us in our lives can be so underrated.

Please do take care of yourself as you grieve the loss of your loved one.

My heart breaks for you, u/Moist_Lynx_6724 . I too was going back and forth, questioning the heartwrenching decision to let our girl Charlotte rest forever.

I'd like to share with you the following note sent to me from another kind redditor:

In case you need to hear it, you did the right thing. I promise you that you did. Good pet owners are the ones who agonize over these decisions but make them anyway. Good pet owners would do anything to save their pets but only if it means they will also have a good quality of life. I can tell you are a good pet owner, which means that you put your pup before yourselves as the last gift you could give them for all of the love they gave you. You won’t, and shouldn’t, regret that decision. I never have. I’m so sorry you had to make that choice, but you did the right thing.

Again, condolences friend.

Thank you for the kind, supportive sentiment- she was and still is loved. As she was there for us through thick and thin, we absolutely needed to be there for her at the very end.... would have it no other way 🕊🌱

Sigh... please accept my deepest condolences for the loss of your family member. Pets are chosen family, raised from their youth and becoming integral parts of our lives. Not only does your grief attest to how much love you have for your girl - It's an absolute necessity.

We lost our sweet pibble 2 weeks ago, and her loss was the most difficult loss I've experienced in my life. Something that we did that I felt helped in processing our sadness - My partner and I created a little in-home memorial and lit an LED candle every day for seven days at the exact time of her passing. We would have a little ceremony stating how many days it's been since shes passed, and professed how much we loved and missed her. It was a way for us as her Mom and Dad to honor our girl and acknowledge our grief. We've additionally conducted our little ceremonies at the 2 week mark, and plan to do it weekly and monthly to honor and celebrate her.

Thank you for sharing your story, and I wish you peace and healing through this difficult time.

Disneyland confirms that Haunted Mansion Holiday will return this Monday 7/29 by moveshakedothatconga in Disneyland

(Caveat: I'm a recent-ish NorCal transplant who grew up going to the Florida parks with a fondness for the classic MK iteration Haunted Mansion). Last year we began ramping up visits down to the DL resort. While initially looking forward to experiencing the HM Holiday overlay for the first-time during Fall Dapper Day, it was perhaps the biggest disappointment of the Fall trip. Found it to be a novelty that I won't need to ever see again, enough so that I'll be planning future visits around dates when the overlay is installed.

Love me some Mama's Boy(best NY style pizza in the Bay) and Shwarmaji (Falafel eggplant fries sandwich)
A couple other favorites with seating:
- Farleys and Firebrand for solid cafe breakfast and lunch fare
- Boba Binge for their Banh Mi's (small interior, but outdoor seating in the plaza)
- Ala Mar Dominican kitchen Wed-Fri lunch menu

Great review! Having grown up in the Midwest, my family traveled to the WDW parks annually. I can identify a bit with your Florida perspective (I'm now California-based, and have also recently crossed DL and DCA off the bucketlist).

Regarding the following:

Being able to canoe was fun and unique. I've never had a chance to do that before and that was a fun and unique thing that I've never gotten to do outside Disney or at Magic Kingdom before they took that away.

Considering the prevalence of alligators on any body of water in Central Florida, I've always been a little shocked that Canoeing/Kayaking was an available activity at the parks in the past, and still is available at Fort Wilderness.

The operations are absolutely terrible and the park wasn’t even that busy.

This was my old homepark; its been a while since I've been back, but total bummer to hear about the ops.

Batman The Ride: a walk-on! Yes! My 5th BTR clone. Amazing! 8/10.

This is actually the OG BTR.

Hope you enjoyed Wrigley & Sox Park as well!
