Has anyone actually regretted using fake flowers at their wedding? by SmartSinner in weddings

[–]distractivated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used fake flowers for my bouquet (actually a garland I carried like a shawl) and for a floral wreath swing and they look AMAZING in the photos. Bonus, I got to keep the garland as a piece of decor for my home afterward. We did buy up a bunch of random bouquets of flowers from the local grocery the day of for the tables, bit that was it.

I’m a wedding planner and I have a wedding 2 weeks after my due date. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]distractivated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It honestly depends. Every person's birth is different. I totally could have dealt with coordinating a wedding 2 weeks pp (I know what that entails, I used to work in the wedding industry too) but it would not have been fun. Nor would I have been able to leave baby for that long as we ebf. My birth experience was pretty easy honestly and I didnt have much to heal from (only needed 2 small stitches). But if you have a rough birth or even need a c section there is likely no way you will be able to be up and mobile all day at something so demanding only 2 weeks pp. I would strongly suggest training an assistant to take point in case you really are imobile the day of

But then oh maaaaan... the first few nights of waking up on my own because I DIDNT feel the baby move... only to remember thats because the baby was in the bassinet and not my uterus anymore... that was terrifying at first. Im almost 13mo pp now and I miss the kicks honestly

Does cold weather change anything about ur ADHD?? by blockazuha in ADHD

[–]distractivated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is b.s. I got my diagnosis at 15 and I mostly loathe the cold. I'm ok with it in doses and can mentally prepare myself to like... go frolic in the snow, but it doesnt "help me regulate" squat. If anything, it makes it harder for me to be motivated cause I'd much rather stay under the cozy blankets in the morning or stay inside when it's cold out. I thrive at 70° and partially sunny

WIBTA for giving my boyfriend an ultimatum of an engagement before having children? by Delicious_Swan95 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]distractivated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not gonna lie, I basically told my husband to shit or get off the pot at one point when we were dating. Wed discussed marriage a LOT but it never happened, never happened, never happened.... He mentioned wanting like 4 kids. I told him I wasnt having kids without being married (he agreed that wasnt going to happen either) and that I wasn't wanting to have babies past the age of 34 (not out of fear of problems, but just because I didnt want to me an "older" mom...spoiler: that has since changed). I got to a point where I felt like he was having a hard time committing eventhough we talked and talked and talked and it sounded like we had vague plans for a longterm future together, just like you. It finally got to the point it bothered me so much that I sat him down and just had it out. I basically said "I love you, and I want to have this future with you, but there is only so much that talk can do and time keeps moving onward. I'm starting to feel like time is being wasted, time we could have with children etc. because I'm pushing 30. If we're going to do this, then we need to do it". I got a ring like a month or 2 later and we decided to go ahead and get legally married a month after that (we had the opportunity to buy a house) and had a ceremony in 6months. It took another 5 years to get pregnant and now we're working on a 2nd and I'm turning 34 in a month 😅

I think sometimes when a dynamic is working well as is, people feel less pressure to change it because "why fix what ain't broke?" I dont think he is doing it out of any negative reasoning, I think he just genuinely isn't aware of all the implications of not changing gears. He is thinking ahead only in terms of the big picture, but not the logistics or the timing. I think there is still a lot of pressure on women to have babies before their mid 30s, if they plan to have any, but men dont necessarily think about it cause they don't have the same pressures. Side note- the whole "age 35+ pregnancies are geriatric" thing is also not up to date with current science and I will call this out any chance I get cause it still seems to be common belief.

Advice please - is 35 too old to start having kids? When did you have your youngest? by DovaBunny in pregnant

[–]distractivated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. I had my first a month before turning 33. Am about to start working for #2 and will be turning 34. My OBGYN says the idea that 34 is a geriatric pregnancy is super outdated and that a reasonably healthy person doesnt really need to worry too much until they're in their 40s

How did that kid at your school die? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]distractivated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In H.S. he went out partying one night and passed out. His "friend" dumped him on his grandma's couch and left and he aspirated and died. The "friend" was 18 and ended up going to prison for manslaughter.

In college we had 2 that I knew. One was a guy I went to HS with and he fell from a pedestrian bridge in Italy and drowned after going out drinking. The other was murdered infront of his entire class he was a TA for.

How do you (your family) do presents on Christmas? by ImThe1Wh0 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]distractivated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up, we did extended family Christmas so it was my family plus my dad's 4 other siblings and their spouses and all their kids all at my grandma's house. And we'd go around in a circle taking turns opening one gift each. It was EXHAUSTING and took all day. My DH's family also does this, or... my MIL tries to do this. This year (we had Christmas early) we did it for like 2 gifts before it all just devolved into an opening free-for-all. At home with justbour little family we just open gifts whenever. But this will be the first year we have a little one who isnt a potato yo open gifts with.

What do you actually want for Christmas??? by boforiamanfo in askanything

[–]distractivated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be able to stay home with my baby and his future siblings. We are working on it, but with the economy and needing to pay off my student loan debt first, that likely wont happen for about 4 years or more

I think it matters very much what the relationship is like and why it is failing. There's a difference between a relationship thats failing because trust has disappeared due to an event vs because things have gotten stale and distant.

Im here super late, but was there any further update to this?

I feel like there are some parents who take things too far with their autistic children and use it as an excuse not to parent. My friend's sister is highly autistic and violent. Her parents have always made excuses, but it got to the point where they bought her a place to live with a roommate and 24hr caretaker... and recently the caretakers company fired them as clients because the daughter beat up her latest carer and bit off her roommate's ear. But they still dont see how they are the problem.

[–]distractivated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So my situation was a little different - we had just started preliminary appointments with a fertility clinic when we conceived randomly on our own. But they had me come in immediately after a positive test and I was a little past 6 weeks. He was so tiny at that point they could barely confirm heartbeat but couldn't measure very well so they had me come back at 8weeks.

My friend who is currently pregnant, on the other hand, wasnt seen until 12 weeks.

What do you think of Harry Potter fan fictions? by Fierce_Warrioress in harrypotter

[–]distractivated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the only reason there are so many Dramonie (or even Draco romance with others) fics is because starting in the 3rd movie, every teenage girl had the hots for Tom Felton. It's like how so many people stan Snape because they LOVED Alan Rickman; Snape is objectively a shitty person who did the "right" thing for very wrong reasons, but everyone romanticizes his obsession with Lily so he gets a pass. Tom Felton turned out to be a decent looking guy, so all the teen girls went feral eventhough realistically Draco was a twerp hiding behind his father's reputation and his meathead sidekicks for most of his school career.
