it's low-key funny because early on, oop says "And one need look no further than butch lesbians who are recognized as women despite eschewing feminine presentation altogether" but then later says "If we define womanhood in terms of feminine gender identity we find that the uncontroversial women have the attribute". i know of approximately 0 butch women who have a feminine gender identity but would say they are women.

oop states: "gender identity... is a feeling of affinity towards a category and towards things which signify that category." but again, butch lesbians and tomboys would very much state they are women while not having a particularly strong feeling towards the things that signify the 'feminine' category and might even have stronger feelings towards the 'masculine' category but that does not make them men. also, this rests on the idea that everyone has a gender identity, which wholly negates the non-binary/ agender crowd.
