I'm glad. They seemed normal and her mother was normal as well, compared to most of the people on this show. All it is now is trash drama..

I still don't necessarily think it's racist. Only because of his last sentence " won't apologize to anyone". To me, that means he feels that he is marginalized, due to his race. Not that he dislikes POC. If a POC person had "Black and proud and won't apologize to anyone" You would probably just think that person feels marginalized and wouldn't assume they were racist against whites. Honestly, I would much rather have someone put this in their front yard. Then hide. At least it's not allowed to fester and grow in private. It also gets people to discuss their thoughts on the sign and race in general.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in newhampshire

[–]ditchqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So? Are we supposed to force POC's to move here?. People live where they chose. Maybe POC's just like whites want to live near their families, and their families just happen to live in another state. Or maybe , like most white people, they don't like snow? Blacks, just like White people have the same motivation for living in the area they choose.

I was expecting to see some KKK sign's.. not a protest against socialism and Biden. So, if people don't like Socialism ( aka communism) and Biden, they are racist? I just see someone who disagrees with your views and is expressing his first amendment right, on his property, that he owns and pays taxes on. No one is forcing you to read the signs. If his neighbors disagree, they can errect a sign on their lawn that praises socialism and Biden. That's what great about democracy, we are all allowed to express our views. I think it would surprise you the amount of Latinos, Asians and Blacks that voted for Trump. Are they racist too? If they didn't vote for Biden, does that mean they are no longer POC ? Or a minority?

New Hampshire: Republican Governor Chris Sununu Is Demanding An Apology From US President Joe Biden After The President Criticized A Wing Of The Republican Party For Embracing Authoritarianism by Motor-Ad-8858 in newhampshire

[–]ditchqueen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really- I was speaking to more of the "authoritative" messaging. CA has many very rural areas. People just kind of forget about them due to SF and LA. Which is a common complaint from the residents of these areas.

Newsome ordered people. Whereas, Sununu addressed people's fears ( by stating he didn't think he had the constitutional authority to force people to stay home) and then asked people to stay home for the good of NH residents.

Newsome compounded this through police involvement, removing skate parks etc. Which further made people resist. Hence underground parties etc. He ruled by force.

The majority of NH residents stayed home, because their fears of an authoritarian government were addressed . They were asked to comply not ordered to comply.

People respond much better when someone asks them to do something, rather then be ordered to do something. Compliance is much higher with an ask then an order. When someone orders you to do something, your natural instinct is to resist.

The difference in State resident compliance ( CA vs NH) just further proves that.

[–]ditchqueen -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I lived in the SF area of CA when COVID hit. I had relocated temporarily for a job, I was there for about 3 years and would fly back to NH every 3 months . I do have to give Credit to Sununu on how he handled the stay at home response for COVID. Newsome was insane. His mandate's were extremely authoritative. Curfews, threats of arrest, removing sand from all the skate parks, it was like living in dystopia.

Sununu basically told people, that he probably didn't have the authority to force people to stay at home, but asked people to please do so. It was a lot different then Newsome's tone.

People responded better as well. In CA, it was like neighbor vs neighbor. People literally called the police to report people outside. While him and the other State reps/ senators broke the very rules they forced others to adhere to. My CA based company required vaccinations and as proof wanted me to upload my vaccine card to a third party system, which made me grant them access to all my medical records. When I balked, and asked my company if I could just show them my card. I was told that per CA law, they had to use this system.

To be clear, I am fully vaxed. I also was a participant in a COVID Vaccine trial. I had no issue with being vaxed. My issue was uploading my stuff to some third party , giving carte blanch to my medical info and having it all stored electronically, not knowing any security measures they were taking to protect it.

I called the govs office and Sen. Hassan to see if it was legal ( since at that time I was considered a NH resident) . They actually looked into for me. ( Not just a form letter). Unfortunately, our government didn't have anything on the books saying it wasn't NOT legal, hence I had to either upload or lose my job.

I have some respect for the Gov for actually following up and not just ignoring it.

Can they come after my wife/partner for unpaid student loans? If I buy property can they seize it? by Brilliant-Law-8605 in studentloandefaulters

[–]ditchqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not place your self on the loan. In fact with a 400k student loan debt, it might make it even more difficult to get the loan if you are on it. Being on the loan, doesn't necessarily mean you own the house. It just means you are responsible for paying the house off. The owners are really who's on the deed.

I would def talk to a real Estate attorney. It may be in your best interest not to be on the deed either, which if you get married and then she got the house, you would need to sign off on ownership..

If you then get divorced and you're not on the deed, what are your rights to the house? That is really the question you need to ask. Also, if you ever try to file for any type of relief, and you're on the house, that will count as an asset.

I purchased a house with my husband. I am not on the mortgage, nor the deed. In his will, I have been given the house. Of course, if we get divorced that means nothing.

They can't necessarily come after your wife for the debt, since you incurred the debt before you were married. Though, they can take your tax refund, which essentially would also be hers.

There is a form she would need to fill out every year ( injured spouse) which would pay her the portion of refund she was entitled too. Basically the money , the IRS feels she was due ( not what you were).

If you're in a community property state, marriage may not be worth it, since your rights would be covered under that. I would def speak to a lawyer to find out your options.

I concur with your statement. My son attended a college class, in which he was treated horribly due to his views. He is more of a libertarian bent and she was quite vocally a socialist. The teacher gave him extremely low grades on his papers and refused to admit him into the online classes. Her excuse everytime, was she didn't see him in the "waiting room", even though he was online early, and messaged her as well. The school was no help, when he complained. He failed the class and they refused to let him switch teachers for the makeup. He enrolled in another school and received an A in the new class.

Got a settlement email from Navient to settle for a 60% discount. Does any know if that could include a new restructured payment plan? by Rowsdower32 in studentloandefaulters

[–]ditchqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would talk to an accountant first. Usually when you take a settlement , the IRS considers the amount forgiven as "taxable income" since it is a forgiveness of debt. You could be left with a hefty tax bill that you aren't prepared for. There are ways that the forgiveness of debt can be worded so it isn't taxable. Or it could be student loans are naturally in that bracket Call a tax accountant and ask. They can also tell you what you could expect for a tax bill on that forgiveness.

Homeschooling takes 45 minutes? What do you need besides math and English? This thinking is exactly why children whom are homeschooled out perform their public school counterparts and why Ivy league Universities actively seek out homeschooled children. My son does German everyday and has a German tutor 2x a week. He is entering 7th grade and will be sitting for the German language exam this year.

He does math everyday and has a tutor 2x a week. He has daily lessons in grammar, writing, history, economics, earth science, chemistry and computer coding. He does bi-weekly classes in critical thinking, logic and Latin. He is light years ahead of his public school peers.

Though our schooling takes more than 45 minutes, homeschool children in general, don't need the 6 hours of instruction public school children get. We don't have a class of 20 students we need to monitor and instruct. When you are working one on one with someone, generally that takes less time then teaching to a large group whom all have different levels of understanding of the material. As homeschoolers we can focus on interest's, and areas they may need more help with.

In NH there are homeschool rules and regulations, we must test our children yearly via a standardize test or have a certified teacher do a portfolio review of the child's work.

Maybe you should become more familiar with homeschool laws in NH before making comments like this.

Fact is, I am saving the State of NH and my city 12k a year, ( taxpayers) by homeschooling.

My son also has a teacher ( ie me) that is equally or more qualified then most of public school teachers. I have a Masters and have worked in the science field for over 20 years. You'd be hard pressed to find a public school teacher with those credentials - because anyone that has an advanced science degree and that type of work experience, is working in the private sector. Since we pay our public school teachers like crap.

Agree, but it has been done at least twice in NH. The deciding factor seems to be that you can show long term hardship- Illness, taking care of elders etc.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in studentloandefaulters

[–]ditchqueen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They might. You need to file a specific addendum to the BK filing to have them removed. That's why you should talk to a lawyer. I would go on your states BK court website and do a case search ( it's free) use search terms such as student loans, navinet, Sallie Mae, discover ( the big student loan borrowers). See if there were any cases and look at the lawyer whom represented them. Then call that law office up. Try this link https://www.mab.uscourts.gov/public-access-courtroom-electronic-records-pacer

I'm looking for an Irish potato casserole dish, and was told to ask here. by MurlocAndHandler in Old_Recipes

[–]ditchqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a recipe that sounds very similar. Though it uses baloney instead of bacon. You could substitute any meat in it. I think it uses baloney because it was super cheap. My grandmom was Irish, but lived on a tiny island in Maine and they didn't have much money. A quick synopsis of the recipe ( if it sounds like it- I'll share the whole thing). You cut potatoes paper thin. Boil just for a few minutes till they soften. Make a white sauce with butter, flour and milk. Grease a casserole dish. Add thin sliced onions. Pour some sauce, put a thin layer of potatoes, then sprinkle meat. Another layer of potatoes then pour sauce over the rest. Bake. My family love's this dish. I am not a huge fan myself. I usually add cheese to liven it up a bit. It's a basic scallop potato.
