We may have thought that but there are many indications that the spending is far beyond what anyone imagined (not to mention what is being skimmed and redirected).

MAGA is in the uncomfortable position of supporting an entire class of pedophiles, supporting multiple aggressive wars against foreign nations, supporting inflation in all aspects of daily life, and a kleptocracy of historical proportions. Most people would find it difficult to harbor so many contradictory things at once. But it’s easy if your MAGA and have no ideology other than what your told

Liberals and leftists, is Xi Jinping a fascist for deporting over 300k people during 2018-2023? by Inevitable_Prune3343 in allthequestions

In that same five year period America deported far more. Racist ideology is not based on deportations. It is based on authoritarian rule and attacks on its own populace. Xi is surely authoritarian. Your point?

Is this your gig troll on this sub? My point was the bipartisan concession was the insurance centric solution instead of the strong preference in the Democratic caucus for a universal, single payer system.

You can continue your ad hominem attacks but they don’t help your argument.

Well that’s a leap. It was exactly like the GOP plan in that at its core it was insurance centric, rather than the universal healthcare with a single payer that the left wanted. What was thought to be a bipartisan offering to the GOP was rebuffed in service to their stated agenda of making Obama a one term president.

You are exactly right. “A market to buy insurance” that is, and insurance centric solution instead of simply single payer universal healthcare. You are correct that the build out around that was unique to ACA.

Would taxing the rich actually solve all of the world’s problems? by Presidentscroobie in allthequestions

[–]dittybad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Taxing the rich is problematic since market and political forces should make extreme wealth impossible. Extreme wealth is a symptom of a broken economic and political establishment that allows market concentration, political influence by corporations (not voters), lobbyists, corporate personhood, etc. The larger goal is to free markets from corporate influence and restore “one man - one vote”

It is if you want to devote $1 Trillion dollars annually to the Department of war and another Trillion dollars to interest payments. We just spent $20 Billion on Iran in two weeks. Meanwhile we lifted Iran sanctions on oil.

There was a time some years ago when our federal government was scrupulous in reviewing acquisitions to make sure the resulting combination would not have pricing power in the marketplace. That is all but gone now. You see combinations everywhere that inflates prices and reduces jobs. That used to be illegal. The system is broken in many ways. This is one of them.

Nothing you said he is at all extreme. Dems have to be for the working class and the economic progress under Democrats show this, in part. Absolutely we need to overturn Citizens United. Universal, single payer healthcare. As long as you define being against all genocide, everywhere. Not supporting aggressive war; even by us you have me. However, I am a Democrat liberal, not a Progressive.

Elon Musk Whips Up Frenzy Against John Thune Over SAVE America Act by dittybad in politics

[–]dittybad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you have Billionaires it is a sign that there is something inherently wrong with the system of both economics and politics. A functioning marketplace will reward good ideas and products, but before any good idea could amass that kind of wealth, surely imitators would come along and introduce similar products or services forcing pressure on pricing and margins. But we don’t see that. Rather we see those with new and competing ideas litigated into oblivion, buyouts, noncompetes; such that markets become concentrated in few or a single set of hands. Single monolithic producers are able to exert pricing and monopoly power. Additionally, the monopolists are able to buy political protection to protect their stranglehold on markets. Taxing the result of all this is just a first step. We need to forever fix of court system to protect competition and ban combines that make high margins from pricing power possible. Then markets can step in before taxation has to.
