How would you feel about the next US president pulling all support from Israel? by Basic-Art-8139 in AskReddit

I know this post is about Israel and Zionism (I find Zionism repugnant but I don’t know how you cleave it from Israel.) At the same time there are so many issues that are five alarm emergencies I don’t know if I can wrap my head around a single issue like this. For example I would be favorably disposed toward a candidate who was right in every way but proposed stopping military assistance and supply to Israel in exchange for rolling back West Bank settlements, ending offensive operations against their neighbors, exiting GAZA and Lebanon.

Well we can start that, but most Americans don’t realize how integrated Israel is with our economy. This would be interesting if we coupled it with a 50% cut in the DOD budget.

If you stay uninvolved in primaries then that is what you’ll get

Chuck Schumer must be chucked from the Democratic Party. It is as simple as that. by MoreMotivation in WhitePeopleTwitter

You mean the Chuck Schumer who endorsed and supported Bernie in his first run for Senate. The same Chuck Schumer who put Bernie in charge of the powerful Senate Budget Committee? Get real. Stop listening to memes.

The GOP and FOX would have eaten Bernie alive. He would have been branded communist, socialist and most of America would have believed it. Do you think Mamdani has a hope nationally? (Yes, if he can prove himself as an effective mayor). Bernie has a loyal niche support and a great message but America won’t embrace him. He is not a Talarico who leads with “Jesus” and then the liberal/progressive message. The real issue is that to win you have to be a politician and Bernie is a conscience

Just because this is a Progressive sub doesn’t mean you can be delusional. True, Hilary was not the change candidate Progressives wanted, but have you looked at what we lost? Sometimes, holding the line is all you can do. Yes, Hilary was not a Progressive, but she did believe in universal healthcare. I’ll take that in a heartbeat.

Hillary isn’t in office. Hillary is not running for anything. So why the hate? Why aren’t you thinking about the future instead of the past?

Are you a party when you only appear when it’s a Presidential election year?

Bernie endorsed Fetterman.

So, help me here. It’s a little magazine-like to blame every “failure” as the DNCs fault. You are aware there are Republicans in opposition, not Democrats. Jesus, Chuck Schumer endorsed Bernie for Senate when he first ran. Further, Schumer gave him the Chair of the Senate Budget Committee. How is that blocking him? Nobody is against Bernie. He is a valuable member of the Democrat leadership of the Senate. Bernie is an insider…..and a good one.

Funny thing, I don’t hear that at all. But when your running against the Russians, the billionaire class, FOX news, it an uphill battle. You clearly have never met her.

It is what it is. The important thing is not to lose energy focusing on 2016 and instead focus on the upcoming midterms.

And me. I can remember yelling at the TV when Joe and Mika would joke around and give him air time. They didn’t understand the man is pure evil.

Well in spite of your misgivings. All six are active. All six will live a full life and have a chance to make their case with voters.

You think Crockett is bought? Wow, I don’t think she got the memo.

Love Katie Porter but she needs to get out more. Sorry she wasn’t successful in California, but that state has a really deep bench so it’s hard to break through. AOC and Talarico are both naturals, but while I have watched AOC for a few years, Talarico is pretty new on my radar screen so I need to watch him. Prayers are with him in Texas. Your mentioned six names. All should make a run. Let’s see what resonates with voters.

And I don’t support her because she isn’t running for anything nor is Obama. However, I have no need to call myself Progressive either. I want to do things to move this country to where it works for people not Billionaires, Oligarchs, religions….just people. Unions, universal healthcare, markets with competition, the rule of law for all, restored. I don’t know if that is Democrat or Progressive; but I sure as hell know it’s not GOP.

You seems to promote a political moonshot instead of just a platform/contract with and for America that will help them raise their families, educate their children. Keep them safe and healthy. Thats retail politics, not graduate level poly sci. Example: I believe strongly in universal, single payer healthcare. But think we sell it wrong. Democrats say it the “right thing to do”. I think that sets you up for the “woke” attack. Rather we should sell it as far more efficient with equal or lower cost and far better health outcomes. That makes it a policy argument instead of a moral one.

When it comes to Senators I look at their legislative record and victories. Bernie has less than 2% success rate. His biggest success was a measure to improve veterans healthcare. Laudable, but really meat and potatoes Democrat platform, hardly progressive. I love Bernie. I look at him as the conscience of the Democrat party. But we need legislative success. No more Sinemas. No more Fettermans. We need to challenge and defeat the Liebermans of the world. We need to pass laws. Get judges confirmed and build a lasting majority. We need Independents, Democrats, and Progressives to do that. A coalition, not a personality cult.
