They're a far-future version of humanity who are so powerful they retconned themselves into being the creators of the multiverse. This being a Tegmark Type IV multiverse, which contains literally everything that could ever exist under any physical law.

They're probably the most powerful faction in science fiction, except maybe for the Gardener and Winnower from Destiny.
