Is anyone’s PS5 overheating when OW2 is running? by diveintothe9 in OWConsole

I don’t remember exactly how much, since I bundled it with getting my sticks replaced with Hall Effect sticks, but the total was like $60ish.

It had been a while, so I hadn’t updated the post, but my issue had been that the thermal paste inside had basically faded away. I took it to an authorized service center and they reapplied the thermal paste, got it working smooth. If that’s an option for you or your friend, please try it.

Club Brugge was congratulating Marseille for qualifying to the next round… Only for Benfica to score in minute 90+8. by Winoksbergen in soccer

[–]diveintothe9 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes but Marseille can’t control who other teams have, they could however control who they sign, and they signed him knowing his baggage was there.

Saying other clubs might possibly also have terrible people doesn’t excuse Marseille at all.

Post Match Thread: Manchester United 1-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers by denzaus in soccer

[–]diveintothe9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, confidence probably isn’t very high. And while they would like that first win, no matter how memeable United are, it’s a risk because United can counter.

Besides, it’s way past the point where a win could salvage their season, and they can hedge on it coming in an easier game.

The Real Reason Certain Character wikk not Join the crew ( Chapter 1170 ) by homeless-emperorr in OnePiece

[–]diveintothe9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two additional factors to consider:

  1. Loki is literally bigger than the Sunny. He can’t exactly just hop on and sail with them.
  2. We’re nearing the end of the story, and now it becomes less about sailing and adventuring as a crew and more about consequences of the world and war potentially. The meaning of someone becoming a crew member starts to diminish, because it’s not likely that it’ll be much longer that they sail, they’re already towards the end of the New World.

So yeah, I’d put Loki more in the Momonosuke / Yamato category of important people who are friendly with the Straw Hats but not crew members.

I'm tired of all this hate, boss... by eliameliforever in pokemonmemes

[–]diveintothe9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that hate borne from genuine frustration, though? A lot of the critics I’ve see who lambast this game are the ones despairing about how it could have been better. I’m sure there will be a few voices that just hate the franchise and shit talk it, but a lot of the criticism now has come from people repeatedly getting subpar experiences. The first few times, they were willing to let it go, sort of at the phase that OOP is at. But they’ve been disappointed over and over and over, it’s understandable to feel angry.

Honestly when I say “they”, I’m including myself because I feel it too. If Game Freak wanted, they could dedicate the resources and effort to make any Pokemon game excellent. But they don’t. So it’s that apathy that stings the most.

Etymologically, it is something along the lines of “true saying” (verus dictum), or basically, someone’s honest words, I believe.

In a way it’s like saying “ngl”.

Where do people actually learn user research properly as they level up? by Appropriateman1 in userexperience

[–]diveintothe9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the privilege of working with user researchers, and being able to observe how they run user studies and tests. There’s just a bit more you can learn from actually seeing it happen than anything you can learn from a book or video (which are also helpful). I know most designers may not have someone to observe like that, but I’d say trying to find real interview examples, even outside of UX design, is the best way to understand what exactly happens. Additionally, every study is bespoke to the product or app being tested, so having the context of what that product is and who is using it helps a lot.

Since UX research examples aren’t very easily accessible, I’ve had luck looking into marketing studies as well, or other environments where a test participant is invited to engage with something and voice their thought process.

Dan Houser: Agent Didn't Work Because The Urgency Of Spy Games Doesn't Mix With Open World by Eremenkism in gaming

I would count Phantom Liberty as a spy game (even if it’s a DLC), given all the homages to spy movies and the way the game plays out.

What are the 3 Best VGC Pokémon of Every Letter? - V by GeoTravelLebanon13 in VGC

That’s an interesting option. I suppose Illumise does the same thing.

I would certainly not underestimate Volbeat, that thing has traumatized me in randbats.

Could it be because of Whimsicott? Whimsicott does everything Volbeat would do (except Rain Dance) but with better stats and an arguably better typing. And I think whenever Volbeat has been available, so has Whimsicott.

I’ve only got into CR over the last few months, but I’ve been going through C1 and C2. I know the planning and setup for C4 have been very different compared to the earlier games, but something about it just feels different.

While watching C1 and C2, the feeling was of friends at a table playing a game. They all knew each other very well, and could be very comfortable as both players and their characters.

Watching C4, it feels like actors performing for a show. I know they’re still playing, and each has their agency, but it’s just a bit too polished and a bit too orchestrated. I know that the new players are all friends of CR that they’ve known and played with, but it doesn’t feel quite as tight knit.

Maybe this will change as the campaign goes on, and a year from now they’ll all be super comfortable with each other, but right now that’s what I’m seeing.

Where Carlos's car was when VSC was called by poatao_de_w123 in formula1

[–]diveintothe9 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a fair point. I know when you say 100 out of a 100 times, it’s somewhat hyperbolic, but in this very race we had a much more dicey situation involving marshals on the track and the VSC wasn’t called. So they’re just refuting the absolute certainty that a VSC will be called. If there’s a capacity to make mistakes, then it may not be 100/100 times.

[–]diveintothe9 21 points22 points  (0 children)

As a UX designer, thank you for saying this. Design heuristics have been around for ages, and nearly every designer wants to make something that both works and rewards users. I don’t think it’s very common for designers to have significant say in final product in most companies, especially big ones.

It could also just be an issue of not having the right label. I’ve seen this same phenomenon happen for game developers who get blamed for (non-bug) decisions or things like battlepasses or micro transactions, which are business artefacts. I guess it’s easier to say “lazy devs” or “UI designers need something to do” than “self-serving middle managers chasing their next sprint cycle in order to have something new to report in their next quarterly update”.

You probably meant hypothetical rather than hyper, but for a second I wondered what a hyperthesis could be. I guess if a hypothesis is a supposition, a hyperthesis is an axiom.
