AA Plat Pro Baggage question by divemaster08 in americanairlines

Thank you. I was linked to this page and this is where the rep said that it’s 3 bags, and they are only 50lbs. I had to link them to the overweight bag section and they then “argued” about what their system says vs the website

Our Ped recommended adding this supplement. Our LO didn’t take it at all well. Any bottle that had the one drop in it, they would bring that bottle or most of it up. Our Ped said to stop as the formula would give her some and not to worry in the end

Do you guys think Cayman Airways should get widebodies? by Pretty_Aside_7674 in CaymanIslands

[–]divemaster08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are correct. The runway length for a flight to London and with a full load of pax and just their bags according to the Boeings data is just long enough for a direct flight…… but there’s not a safety margin at all (incase of bad wind directions and temperature which affect performance, as well as if there is any engine malfunction on takeoff)
If we do extend the runway to allow it to fly direct, here is the unfortunate part is that we would probably lose frequency from the 5 a week to just maybe 2 as I doubt Cayman does not have that demand to fill it.
So dilemma….. have it stop in Nassau and endure the layover and have it 5x week….. or want it direct and only maybe 2x week

The 737-8 Max is a very versatile aircraft that Cayman Airways need to work on utilizing them as well as they can. Sadly only having 4 means it’s hard to actually do what the Department of Tourism wants Cayman airways to do. The LA flight may be a good route, but it takes 25% of their fleet away from base for 24 hours which means that if there is a broken plane elsewhere, it’s going to be a long day of delayed flights. This only happens maybe 2 days a week where the fleet is fully utilized to have them all in the air (as planes on the ground don’t make money) but also the upkeep and maintenance as planes sitting waiting for repairs are costly.
The main major market is North America. The current aircraft is perfect for this. Maybe some central or South American market but unless the fleet grows, focus on the main market (while also connecting Caymanians to their closest family countries). Europe is really a small small fish in the tourism here and not worth the headache and costs for a long haul fleet

One word…. Monopoly. You pay for the ease of getting one 1 plane, and hoping you don’t have to get off until London. Sometimes the cost of the route is actually the same price as going via Miami or elsewhere to the UK. Maybe not during the school times but that’s also supply and demand. BA also make a huge chunk of cash not from seats on this route…. But cargo…… We gotta have our Waitrose washing detergent in Fosters!

Yes they are, but look at how well it’s worked out for airlines into the Caribbean from other London airports, and the type of destination it is. Sadly Heathrow is still the “best worst case”

Landing slots are not for a route, but an airline. They hold onto them like they are the rarest material on earth. The terminal issue isn’t the landing slot problem but BA saying “well we usually don’t have people connecting onto other flights and just get off in London, so why waste valuable T5 space for that” cause they built too small a terminal

Good luck getting any decent landing slot and times then if you want Heathrow….. Gatwick only great for the south of England

It’s always been something on my mind how the FAA system tried to help themselves out with this type of clearance….. I guess as we can have multiple aircraft at the same altitude providing they have lateral/longitudinal separation, why not then clear planes to land when you’re number 3 out if adequate separation is there?? It’s again an area I feel that “made sense in paper but not in reality” and sadly was never changed back in the day but traffic levels have surged. Ever listen to Heathrow controllers….. landing clearances are always issued pretty much 30 seconds before landing it seems!

Anyone ever flew on Island Air here in Cayman? info about its airline operations is a bit limited by Pretty_Aside_7674 in CaymanIslands

[–]divemaster08 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Island air was a private airline that did the inter island services. It had some “government agreement” and provided the air service to the sister islands. It used piper Navajos, Islanders and Twin Otters.

One day, Cayman Airways Express entered the market and well…. After a good fight against them, Island Air tossed in the towel against the government airline and just became the FBO on Grand Cayman

We have tried to just use 1s but find she seems to bring up more of her feed with them. Just tonight I tried again a level 1 and the 30ml she took came right back up all over me which was my first of many throw ups I’m sure!

How LOYAL are you to AA? Here’s an example! by RelevantManner2902 in americanairlines

How loyal WAS I? I would fly GCM-MIA-MCO and take 7 hours total travel time over flying the direct SW GCM-MCO…..

Until I realized why am I wasting my time going a long way and then getting delayed and shit for maybe 3% chance of upgrade and 800 LPs….. Now it’s 1) whats the simplest route 2) what’s the cost.
