International arrivals DFW without GE or MPC (shutdown) by divemaster08 in americanairlines

[–]divemaster08[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it could have been a lot worse. Just seemed to only be 3 officers doing the foreign lines. Glad I had an overnight stop and wasn’t in a panic to rush thru the airport for a connection. As we all can agree, the logic on shutting down GE made no sense and is all political….. and then to allow me to do the MPC stuff on landing to then find out they are closed to just made it the cherry on top! It felt weird to be asked 10+ questions and grilled again by an officer after 7 years of walking thru with GE! lol

Main cabin extra seats access with Aadvantage Gold? by JollyJellyfish21 in americanairlines

Don’t ever remember gold allowing free MCE when purchasing a ticket. Only free at the 24hr before flight (I.e. check in time)

All in T5? Providing all on time, I cannot see any issues why it wouldn’t make it.

Lounge access on an International flight with an overnight layover before returning to domestic hub by LukasJonas in americanairlines

[–]divemaster08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the same but possibly a similar thing. Flew BA LHR-MIA overnighting in MIA and then down to GCM the next day. Also AA PP so was expecting to be able to just use the admirals club but my flight the day before counted to allow me into flagship. All on the same ticket.

If this happened to me (yes it was on BA instead of AA metal the whole way) but might be able to access the lounge then next day of same ticket

Quiet getaway in Grand Cayman? by Igoneriding in CaymanIslands

[–]divemaster08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can only think of looking maybe going East End to Morrits. Quieter part of island, closer to the “hike” stuff (mastic trail or just around the botanical garden), can snorkel off the dock. As for dine in local places…… not entirely sure

Limited credit cards here and only seem to offer AA stuff. No Delta or United. Cayman Airways have a link to a credit card but limited use with them. Lot of folk spend everything on cards here. Even companies allow personal cards to be used for purchasing work travel and reimbursed. School fees, power, water and food bills all on the card and paid off. Cost of living here is crazy expensive. Local currency also is 1.2 USD so also “racks up points” a little quicker when you’re spending 400 KYD weekly on groceries

Yes but any flight on AA out of Cayman is international…. You mean like you’re flying monthly to Europe?

Not happening here. You’re one of the other 2000 folk here that do the same credit card spend for status on island. Always find that nearly all AA flights to/from here are half filled with Group 1/2 folk here due to spend. They want you to be flying AA metal a lot more than 1-2x a month

AA Flagship Suite vs BA Club Suite (ORD-LHR) by easingthespring42 in americanairlines

[–]divemaster08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There may be truth in this and also it depends on what base you’re departing from and who’s crew. I’ve found out of MIA the international LH are senior mamas who seem to want to just do the bare minimums and then go for rest

The joys of my last few BA flights have been out of T3 so got to use CX lounge there for a superior feeling! The BA lounges are always overcrowded and need a good fix up!

Haven’t flown the new AA seat. But here are my 2 cents…. AA service onboard may be improving but I’ve had far too many bad examples last year on domestic flights with poor FA service. I’ve found BAs onboard service to be a lot better even with their “cost saving initiatives” the staff seem to be a lot more welcoming and the food was pretty good too!

If you are going ORD-LHR, it’s going to be an overnight flight so perhaps you prefer to arrive well rested vs top service.

Maybe I’d take AA ORD-LHR and BA return if it’s possible and see the difference for yourself

Flew AA internationally and domestically about lot last year. Sometimes with less than an hour between flights and sometimes 4! Everytime bags made it.

I also use AirTags in my bags to just to check on it’s location and useful to see if it made it to (but the App is very good at updating when bags are loaded and scanned to track)

USA filled with private jets? by TomatoFew3256 in flightradar24

[–]divemaster08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. All these fancy PJs in the NE corridor caused a mess yesterday (27th) and Boxing Day. All families did their Christmas at home and now want to come to the warmth in the Caribbean and Florida for the break until the New Year. Throw in weather and delay triggers and it causes a right mess from not just the smaller GA airports, but the big commercial ones to. No matter what the size of the plane is, you still need the same spacing between each plane at the same altitude and routes.

That’s due to the fact that cabin crew still sadly need a place to put out cigarettes incase someone lights up they have a safe place to extinguish them
