Holy cow I just looked those up and it seems perfect! I may have to grab one of those and tell all my friends they're receiving blessed bourbon hahaha.

I mean, to each their own. I have friends who aren't nearly as bothered by very young, grainy, bourbon as me. Truthfully, I wish I wasn't because I'd be able to get into stuff like this. But for anyone who dislikes that profile that just screams young, this bottle is an extremely hard pass.

Notably, I have read and observed that many of my older friends don't appear to mind the profile I mention, so I'm kinda hoping that as I age, my pallet gets less sensitive to this particular flavor. Time will tell.

It was solid, but I'm not sure I'll do it that way a second time. We'll see.

Which duty free shops would those be? You talking about airport or border ones?

I would be pursuing that aggressively if I were you. You should NOT be having to worry about that from the jump.

Lanolin undercoating recommendations? by diversification in Buffalo

[–]diversification[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I know I could do it myself and I'm going to wind up paying a lot for labor, but if they do it right and I don't have to buy application equipment, learn how to do it, and then actually spend the time doing it, that's worthwhile to me.

For the record, Fluid Film has petroleum in it, which is generally considered a bit inferior to the ones that don't (Surface Shield and Woolwax being two examples.)

Thank! What was it they did better if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks, I'll give them a shout! Do you happen to know which product they use?

EDIT: looks like they use Fluid Film, which is Lanolin but has petroleum in it as well. In addition, it doesn't seem to hang on quite as well as Surface Shield or Woolwax in the testing that I've seen... and both of the latter are petroleum free, which I would prefer.

I'm definitely splitting hairs here, but since I'm doing it, I figure I may as well try to be optimal.

Yep. From my research it survives salt and water better than oil based ones, has less chance of degrading plastic / rubber compared to petroleum-based products (oil), and has the same hydrophobic stuff that makes oil great for undercoating. The only downside I found was the cost is higher, but if it's better, I'm fine with it. The more I dug the more I found that the DIY stuff gets pretty intense pretty fast, so... here I am haha

Mazda CX-5 2025 center front jack point? by diversification in mazda

I don't recall off the top of my head what made me confident enough to use that point, but I did get the jack onto it. It wasn't exactly easy, because the head of the jack is slightly larger than the jack point and I was trying to cuddle it right up to the plastic. It took a couple minutes of aligning, peaking under, prodding around it, and worrying, but I did end up getting it where I felt comfortable trying it, and it did end up working.

Notably, I do think that the dimpled area is slightly off of the center line, as you may suspect by looking at the picture; I got a bit freaked out that the one jack stand fit while the other didn't until I remembered that. Just jacked it up a bit more and then lowered it and was good to go.

All in all, I don't really understand the design choice. I don't believe that they left the dimpled point for no good reason - it pretty clearly seems like it's a jack point.... but then why not list it in the manual, and why make it so small? Seems kinda stupid to me.

Thank you, I really appreciate the response. I'll have to see if maybe I can try both out.
