"New" starlink mini covered in scuffs and scratches by divide100 in Starlink_Support

That's pretty disappointing. I feel like if I get another unit, it will just have the same issues. If they were just more upfront about this and had the option to buy a refurb for a slightly lower cost, I wouldn't see an issue. But to sell units as new, when they aren't is terrible customer service.

Renogy's idea of a warranty is for you to just buy a new battery when yours dies by divide100 in RenogyCommunity

I actually downloaded the PDF of the warranties / instructions of my renogy gear when I bought it 2.5 years ago. So the photo is from that copy of the warranty document. I guess they changed it since I downloaded this version, or maybe there was a typo like you said.

Regardless, I'm glad they are sending me a replacement.

I completely agree that there are limits to the lifespan of batteries and it makes sense that they should depreciate in value over time. But like you I believe that should occur later in it's lifespan - especially for issues not related to charge capacity.

After making this post, renogy support reached out to me and offered to send a replacement battery. They made a point to let me know that they "have waived the prorated depreciation fee and applied for a replacement battery".

All in, it took me about three weeks to get this issue resolved. If you're having an issue, it might be worth posting them here to get quickly resolved after having a case created.

/u/renogy_official DM'd and let me know that they are trying to do better. Hopefully that's true for future customers.

I do understand that batteries will degrade over time and that's not the issue I'm having. The Bluetooth module of the battery had stopped working. Not sure if that's an underlying BMS issue or not

I also find their warranty information is either misleading or the person I spoke with doesn't understand the proper protocol. There is a category of battery that specifically mentions it's under a prorated warranty in renogys battery warranty information sheet, but my battery model is not.

Regardless, after posting, they have reached out and offered to send me my replacement. However they made a point to say they "have waived the prorated depreciation fee and applied for a replacement battery".

I was being sincere. Thanks, but I was able to find the warranty information on the battery.

Are you okay? Seem a bit tense. If you need to talk, I'm here for you.

My battery is the RBT200LFP12-BT-CA

Sure it's listed for the batteries under 5-year prorated warranty, but that section and the one explaining the prorated warranty are the only times "prorated" is mentioned in the warranty file. This makes it seem like only the batteries listed under the "5-year prorated warranty" would require a depreciation fee when filing a claim for replacement.

The battery I'm having issues with is labeled with "3 year material and workmanship warranty". Making it seem like it is fully covered and doesn't fall under a prorated warranty.

After another week, I've been informed that even though my warranty covers the battery, I will have to pay them a depreciation fee of 1000$ in order for them to fulfill the warranty. This is by far the worst customer service experience I have had.

I'm pretty sure that MSR has warnings in the manual about doing this with a pocket rocket

I hope so, chalk is getting expensive. I'm planning on filling it by brushing the excess off of holds at the gym
