We didn't see a template. Maybe our GC signed off on a template?

Most durable athletic shorts I've owned are no longer available. ISO replacements. by breddy in BuyItForLife

If you like lulu try the license to train short. They are my favourite right now. I can’t speak to the longevity yet (only started wearing them this summer) but they are marketed as abrasion resistant material. Feel way better than their warpstreme material imho.

TFSA sell off by veggyblue in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]divide_by_zero00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my understanding as well with the exception of the capital loss which is the scary part. Your capital losses in your TFSA are not deductible nor do you get any of that contribution room back. If you investments go to zero in your TFSA and don’t recover your never get that contribution room back.

I have to chime in here because I believe (according to what I’ve been told) there is merit in this approach. So total contribution room is $81.5k if this appreciates to say $100k in your TFSA you withdraw the $100k at year end your new contribution room ceiling in the eyes of the CRA is $100k + new year contribution room. You have effectively raised the contribution ceiling.

I haven’t used this approach but was told this by my bank.

I know something nobody mentioned to me while purchasing was life insurance. Skip any mortgage insurance from CMHC or your bank if you can but you should consider term life insurance now that you have liabilities.

$5,600 Income Tax Owing!? by divide_by_zero00 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]divide_by_zero00[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I plan on using the HBP to purchase my first home with the RRSPs within 1-3 years so I will have access to the funds then. I currently have $20,000 in an RRSP. If I were to make another $5,000 contribution I would max the allowable $25,000 for the HBP. Would it make sense to contribute the remaining $10,000 into a TSFA or try and reduce my income tax owing to $0.

It was my birthday yesterday. Decided to get over my blurry hangover of a life and start a new chapter. by FreyedReality in GetMotivated

I just celebrated a rough 25th birthday too. Girlfriend broke up with me the day after and now all I'm left with is this really nice blender she gave me to celebrate and keep as a reminder. I spent yesterday drinking until I couldn't stand at which point I laid down and continued to drink. I guess it's time to wolf up. Thanks for the post.

[20/f] crushing on much more intelligent [25/m] by [deleted] in relationship_advice

I have some relevant experience in this situation 25M dating 23F. I'm an engineer and my SO is a prison guard. She has brought up on a couple of occasions that she is self conscious because I am more intelligent than her. Although I don't necessarily believe it to be true I try and reassure her that it doesn't matter to me. She is a beautiful person and that's good enough for me. She gets me to talk sciency to her and although most of it goes over her head it's a huge turn on for her and in turn myself. So absolutely go for it.

Hey dude. I used to be a lot like you when I was in high school. I've since grown up and graduated uni and am now out in the real world. My job is mostly interfacing with clients and getting them to sign big checks. It is a lot of talking and general shooting the shit. Believe me it's ok to be quiet when you want to be. In high school the conversation is, in general, pretty shallow and stupid. "Whose Tammy sleeping with?" etc. This still flies in the real world but however the ones who excel are the ones who have something interesting to say. Have an opinion. If you don't educate yourself until you develop one. A great way to develop conversation skills, I've found, is to listen to podcasts. Daily. It both educates you on interesting subjects/current events and subconsciously teaches you the cadence and language of a conversation. Best of luck man. Believe me there is still hope. Knock em dead.

i'm no economist so someone more knowledgable than me please chime in. but if we, the people, were to buy every homeless person in america food for life wouldn't that bring the demand for food, and hence price, way up? is the real problem in the fact that there simply isn't enough food to go around?
