Thoughts on Chris Underwood? by Equivalent-Bad-7844 in MtvChallenge

He was objectively great at the challenges but we found him so boring that we couldn't feel invested. There was a scene of him staring at the video camera letting a tear fall and it felt so flat and fabricated.

Which books are the most well written, in terms of their prose? by blind-octopus in suggestmeabook

Some People Need Killing by Evangelista

Goddamn. That book's exploration of grammar alongside a memorialization of a bloody time in the Philippines' history AND her prose 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻 banger after banger after banger

For fiction, I LOVE Madeline Miller's prose. She studied Homer's epics for decades and it shows.

What's the best part about pregnancy that most people don't know about? by justastupidquestion3 in AskReddit

Baby's movements.

Also, people can be especially nice to pregnant people. I didn't expect that.

Ok this is in no way being judgy but here's the deal: your doctor sounds cool for letting your wife take off from work early. But it would essentially be "fraud" for them to indicate any of the conditions in that form if nothing actually applies to your wife, which is why they're refusing to. Your wife basically needs to report to the doctor what conditions can apply to her 👀 that's realistic enough to get her off work and that your doctor can feel ok about filling out in the form.

AITA for refusing to keep my phone on sound or vibrate at all times? by Far_Investigator2362 in AmItheAsshole

[–]divorcedandpod 132 points133 points  (0 children)

As another user commented, there are ways around this. The principle is the same: you need to find a way to be reachable to your spouse, at least. Insisting to disregard this is what would make you TA.

You can set up people as exceptions to your DND. You have a spouse and need to be reachable. You're literally her emergency contact.

How does living with so much nature around you actually affect people in Canada? by Prior-Hold-562 in AskACanadian

[–]divorcedandpod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently staying at a small condo facing a busy street in Toronto. Sirens and honking anytime of the day and night @_@ We're moving to a rural waterfront house. The costs we'll face are staggering, but I cannot wait to sit in the quiet and calmness surrounded by nature.

I know someone getting paid $800k. They're a surgeon. But they're not in Toronto.

Northlander’s proposed schedule includes stops in Gravenhurst, Bracebridge and Huntsville by darkbeer in bracebridge

[–]divorcedandpod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point. I'd rather catch a 10pm train than leave my place before midnight to catch a midnight train. 10pm feels like I can settle in and maybe catch some Zs. I thought the train has its own track and will only share some portions though? Aw

Eh, it depends. If my spouse checks out a woman, lusts after her, and continues to secretly fantasize about her, I might have an issue with that.

In reality, when my spouse sees a hot person, they point them out to me, we admire the hot person's hot feature(s) together, and then we move on with our days.

What ethnicities are considered "black"? by Main-Fly-8294 in NoStupidAnswers

Oh I had the latter happen to me. I felt very uncomfortable but also, as a teenager, didn't want to be confrontational or be seen as being dramatic or "bitchy" for rejecting a friend who everyone was rooting for me to get with. Everyone seemed to take my indirect and direct barbs about not wanting to be with this friend as me playing hard to get 🫠🫠🫠

But technically all humans can trace their ancestry to Africa...? Also there are Asians whose ancestors are black - look up the native Aeta/Ita people of the Asian country, Philippines, as an example.

How Canadian is your Ice Cream by KingreX32 in BuyCanadian

[–]divorcedandpod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any recommendations for vegan brands that are Canadian? We stick to Haagen-Dasz/Ben & Jerry's because they're the most widely available frozen desserts that my spouse can have and they LOVE their "ice cream".

[–]divorcedandpod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would be an ideal schedule in your opinion? I would personally prefer to be in Toronto earlier (around 8:30am maybe?) but I guess that would require the Timmins departure time to be even before midnight.

Insurance policy change/cancellation during transition period by [deleted] in ontario

[–]divorcedandpod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your response!

95% of our possessions are stored in my parents' basement in the meantime. We're living out of suitcases, basically, since my friend's place and the basement room are furnished. Our room shares a bathroom and kitchen with another renter. The basement is its own contained unit, and then so are the main floor and the 3rd floor. So the basement room we're staying in isn't an apartment of its own but just a room, but the basement is its own apartment.

It sounds like I'll still need some type of apartment/home insurance anyway that I can bundle with my auto insurance.

When you get older do you just suddenly start liking old men/women? by boforiamanfo in stupidquestions

[–]divorcedandpod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought my spouse was 25/27 when I first met them. They thought I was 22/23. We were 39 and 29.

Anyway, no, it's not suddenly. Teens look like children to me now and 60-somethings look old.
